W2EE Crashing right after the intro video
I downloaded the game on June 4th (on Steam) and once it finished I started it up. The intro animation played fine, started a new game, got to the point of starting to make a character when I was called away so I exited the game. No closing errors.
I came back to the game about an hour later, I ran the program using the desktop icon. Click on the "Launch Game" on the main menu and the game intro starts up and plays normally. Once that is finished the game crashes to desktop. No errors warnings.
I have tried running the game as administrator and done the 'verify integrity of game files' with the unfortunate same results. I also have the overlay unchecked.
I've played the 'non enhanced edition' without any issues. I can't understand why it's a problem now?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

3.20 gigahertz Intel Core i5-6500
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970
16 Gigs Memory
64-bit OS Win10
