Character Romance Discussion

Little touches like that are actually very cool in these games - not that specifically, but all sorts little things you might do and get to which the game subtly but clearly reacts to. You could well contact an STD and even spread it around, and it might affect your rep in certain circles when word goes around (maybe even get a mockery nickname). Taking care of it would be your choice, it won't kill you (during the game).

You're giving kickstarter game ideas. Expect to see a GoFundMe page soon.

I'm 100% sure that Cyberpunk 2077 will probably be the hardest game to be made in the whole gaming industry:
  • It has a specific hardcore demographic that needs to be pleased.
  • By being a RPG, it will need lots of levels of details.
  • It is based on a pen and paper game with a vast of lore, so they'll need to follow it 100% (even though it is in the future).
  • It will also have multiplayer, making it directly compete with other sandbox muiltiplayer games.
  • By being a RPG it will compete with the big guys like Bethesda and Bioware.
  • Part of the demographic has played Witcher 3, a mature game, thus it needs a mature storyline.
  • The world will probably be the most detailed game in the industry because of its futuristic aspects, considering that many other sandbox games are in either apocalyptic, medieval or modern scenarios (ones that usually have vast empty spaces or that are easily duplicated during the creative process).
  • The cyberpunk genre has never been explored by AAA developers at this scale, thus making the marketing campaign even more important to get the idea to sell.
  • By having this much level of detail, the graphics optimization in all platforms must be greatly made while still looking beautiful.
  • The levels of hype are very high.
  • It will directly compete with big tittles like GTA , Fallout, Mass Effect...
  • CDPR changed from making swords to creating guns.
  • The game will have different gameplay aspects from anything they've ever done.
  • And lastly, they will probably try to conquer new demographics.

This is excellent and worthy of a thread in and of itself for it's own discussion.

Meeting the Hype Train, CDPR doing FPS for the first time, I find particularly interesting.

Perhaps I should do it. You know what, fuck it.

Not sure where you get CDPR doing FPS from.
So far we have zero solid info on the combat system CP2077 will use.

It's the most logical conclusion (1st/3rd person shooter at its core). It is far far less likely to be a statdriven game wirh turns or pauses. I'm pretty sure people picture this game in their minds to be analoguous in a lot of ways to GTA V with flying cars and the new Deus Ex's per-enablef machine limbs (and I don't dare wager how close that'll end up to the truth).

I don't think that's something to hope for (in the slightest), but it's easy to see how that might be the first thing in peoples minds with this game.

I sorta preferred Fall-From-Grace as an NPC.

Tho I will freely admit Deionarra's music is epic !

If each romanceable option came with a theme song of their own... then chances are I would go for the one which has a theme which is very goth-styled... and when I say that, "goth-styled", think of groups/artists like Marily Manson, The 69 Eyes, and Nightwish... because I have always had a thing for women who has that whole goth (and goth-like) vibe about their looks and everything (atleast what I percieve as goth, since my definition of "goth" is probably much larger then the actual definition of it is)... XD

Granted... it is not the only style I like in looks, I like a lot of different looks, I am not that picky after all... the goth-like thing just happen to be the one that sits on top for me. And I know exactly why as well, because I can trace that stuff back to something that happened to me when I was about 7-8 years old, and also partly from a Swedish childrens show from the late 80's... XD Originally I thought it partially started in my early teens (when Vampires became my favorit kind of "monsters", and some hints of music I was getting into), but especially went into full bloom in the late teens (due to the music I got into then (Marilyn Manson being the huge one for me), and also due to me and my friends getting into pen and paper rpg's (which for me ment that I got into contact with a huge amount of people that I guess you would call "alternative"))... but turns out it went back even further then that... XD

A song for each character might be too much work, but a general 70's slap bass porn film tune for characters that are shagable would probably suffice.

The game should only lead the player to believe there will be romances, and every time it occurs there isn't, it starts raining (indoors the roof starts leaking), everything slows down a bit and this plays for a while:

I agree with the "Romance being an optional component" group, but if it is going to be an option, it should be handled in a mature and realistic point of view.

I really do hope they have romance options in the game. They can add another, deeper level to the game, especially if the game takes a bit of the ME2 route where companions can die if the wrong decisions are made, or the if the game presents us with a Virmire-type of option from ME1 where you have to chose which one of your companions has to die in order to move the game forward and where that decision can be hugely complicated if one of those companions happens to be the PC's love interest.

I would like the romance options be just that, options. Don't want to romance an NPC, then don't. But instead of making every companion romanceable, if the romance options were a bit more narrow so that they could be worked into the story better, that'd be awesome.

I could see a scenario where your choicen romance option ended up being maybe the one in your group who sold you out at some point in the game... either because they was working for the "bad guys" all along, or due to what ever reason that they decided to turn on you and your group... that could be a cool scenario to get to play through.
