Yeah I know, and like a number of other things, I hope that was just talk "back then".

So a number of details they have talked about being in the game you hope aren't in anymore?

Well, that was years ago and some of it was somewhat contradictory. Shooter. RPG. Single player. Multiplayer integrated into SP. Guy with swag jacket. Guy with swag jacket (Swaggy) now dead. Influenced by GitS, Blade Runner and not going to be gritty - will have Rock and Roll.

So obviously they are going to be changing a lot of things.

Other than it being a Single-player focussed CRPG based on the Cyberpunk 2020 PnP, I wouldn't bet on anything.

Yeah I agree on that, can't bet on much yet, and the more I learn about 2020 the more I wander how CDPR is attempting to even turn it into a video game without straying too far away from the PnP game. Its going to be interesting to see this game one day.

Most of it won't be to hard. Certain skills will probably be dropped (athletics, maybe charismatic leadership) as they don't really fit well in a single-player focused game, others will of course need to be tweaked to fit into a video game. The real question is going to be combat, character skill (RPG) or player (FPS) based. Because there's no way to do both without a dual system being built into the game from the ground up, and that wouldn't be as easy as some may think. Leaning to far in either direction is going to seriously annoy a significant part of their potential customer base, and trying to be a hybrid is likely to disappoint both.

So yeah, going to be very interesting to see what they wind up with.

Yes. OR, at least not done the way I've been led to believe. There have a few sentiments that put me quite seriously off.

CDPR is a pretty straight forward company, when they say something, they mean it. They have established the main pillars of what they want the game to be, so I don't think that much will change. As far as details on how it will all go together, no one will know until its revealed. As far as merging 1st and 3rd person gameplay, its been done before in games and I don't expect it to hold anything back, it just needs to be done right and its very possible. They are obviously trying to build the game so anyone can play the way they want. Take Skyrim for example, the gameplay remains the same in either perspective, only the camera changes making both modes less of what they could be on their own, but take the old Splinter Cell multiplayer, its basically FPS vs 3rd person action and it worked. Each perspective plays the way it should. I think it could work very good

I'd be pretty willing to bet CP2077 will have the option to swap between 1st and 3rd person views at will. So I don't think that's really an issue. The question is will it be able to accommodate character-based (RPG) and player-based (FPS) game-play. Because I think going only one way or the other is going to seriously annoy a sizable portion of the potential player base.

And this applies to both single and multi-player.

Multi-player FPS games are a dime a dozen, multi-player RPGs are few and far between.

Devs should give up modding tools to the community. We'll decide what multiplayer we want. Unreal with augmentations? MMO? First person MOBA? Multiplayer storymode? Not all of this is everyone's cup of tea, and not all of this (if any) should be in game's main package, but those who interested will at least have a chance.

And if it's based on CP2020 rules then Solo's have an essentially unbeatable edge in PvP so they'll be the only viable role.
Well, that's debatable. Rockerboys have control over "creeps", they can rush down opponents with swarms of "fans".

ingame assist. MP co-op. hes an extra gun with you. he doesnt interfere with the story or sidemissions or the world.

Yeah I agree, everyone's game should be their own.

The only thing about multiplayer is that it should NOT be mandatory, automatically turned on or have any part of the singleplayer requiring multiplayer. Nothing ruins a game more for me than having pricks jumping into my game, breaking the immersion by doing things out of character. As long as its optional that is fine, but do not pull a darksouls and force it on us. I am not a fan of putting multiplayer features in games. Most times the singleplayer part of games suffer for it. I have confidence of CDPR, but it does make me worry.

Too situationally dependent, you need a crowd nearby and the time to influence them.

I agree but Dark Souls doesn't force multiplayer on you, it has the offline option. Only opening up the online mode for co op brings along the pvp as well. Still playing solo is an option.

I'll be honest, I'm just not a fan of PvP or competing with other players in that way. So, I couldn't care less about that potential aspect. However, given the option to be able to team up and do a co-op version of the game would make me very happy! I do love playing games with my husband, and I could see this as being something we could possibly play together, making decisions in tandem, to see where things could lead.

What?
You don't want him looking over your shoulder as you play second guessing your every decision?

Nawww ... you're right, far more fun being in there with him co-op laughing at his character with yours when he screws up!

Multiplayer IS situational. And it's not like Rockerboy a very tanky character (or stupid) to go PvP with a Solo alone.

I'm..not even sure how a Rockerboy would PvP without it being very silly and video game-y. "Social Stun Attack!" "Music Blast!" Ugh no.

PvP is about combat - Rockerboys and girls aren't. They lead with their music and words - they don't capture the flag or deathmatch.

Can you imagine Corporates in PvP? "Summon Minions!" "Summon More Minions!" "Audit Assault!!"

Welp, just like any support wouldn't go in combat without an escort.
