Be aware that since the team is currently in the middle of a run getting your character involved may take a while.
Sounds like your character could be an acquaintance (former playmate?) of Max or Neko, so if one of them want's to "call in backup" that'd work.

Beek was born in Johannesburg, South Africa to a couple of corporate techs. His early childhood was nice and offered access to education and privilege, but Been was ten his mother thought she could raise their standing by investing savings. She lost everything and more. The family was turned out of their home and onto the streets of Jo-burg into a world they were not prepared for. Within days Been was separated from his parents and Beek was forced to make his way on his own.

He was fortunate enough to have a good basic education and used it to make his way through the Jo-Burg underworld. He had one goal in mind. Make enough money to get out of Johannesburg and out of his life on the streets. With some luck he's managed to make his way to Night City, but as yet he hasn't managed to gain the security he's been seeking.

While a level 6 language chip is available (someone made one at great expense and it's commercially available) and "Stock Market" 3 is with the permissible/available skill range, "Motorcycle" 6 most certainly is not. In fact reflex chips are harder, and more expensive to create then memory ones. Drop it to 3 and we're good to go.

P.S. With only 168eb as available funds you better hope to hell your next job pays both well and on time!

hello, a couple of questions:

Q1: are the skills mentioned in the 1st page (in bad news section) the only ones with added cost per rank purchase or are there more, that arent mentioned, ie, they fall under the same category, dito for the good news section skills?

Q2: is it possible to take 1 or 2 disadvantages to get a bit more ip to start with?

Q3: is there cost scaling for each rank of a skill ie rank1(smg) ip cost is the same as rank2(smg)?

i have no prior xp with cp pnp (have very limited xp with DnD pnp) so i'd appreciate if i could get some help generating the character (here or in pm - to avoid too much clutter).
was thinking about rolling a tech that had some time in the military as a general idea.
as well as how do i generate a life path?

Q3 - Nope, skill level 1 costs 1 IP, skill level 3 costs a total of 3 IP, and so on.

general background/story:

general background/story:
Jerome was born of a euro-slav marriage of above average technical skill and intelligence he immediately took to tinkering with electronics the occasional lock picking and general tech.
unfortunately he was born to a family that hit hard times and spent his childhood in a slavic ghetto where 'hybrid' children weren't liked much.
to escape the ghetto and life of poverty he decided to join the military which cost him the relationship with his parents but afforded him the chance to hone his skills, learn new ones and maybe even a new better family.

in the military his technical abilities and intelligence earned him the favour of his superiors even more so when he showed aptitude for combat, thus started his stint with SWAT like units where he got the nickname shed - ghost/devil for getting in quietly and messing with securities.
life looked promising for the hopeful youngster making a mentor out of his then current unit's electronic's expert misha illyasov, through which he met misha's niece sharona illyasova another euro-slav, unbeknownst to jerome this event was the turning point of his promising future.
soon enough he and sharona were involved, sharona was killed by a booster gang after jerome got into a fight with with one of their members while on a night out which earned him the enmity of misha.
soon after jerome's performance deteriorated culminating in an "accident" while out on a mission with misha and their unit that left jerome with burns on his left arm torso and leg.
however grief, anger and hatred don't make for a good combination and jerome found out misha was responsible for the "accident", seeking retribution at misha jerome tried to get even, however his intention was exposed which lead to jerome's summarily conviction and 7 month incarceration in a military prison followed by dishonorable discharge.

now days jerome tries to make it in NC after he migrated there to start a new life or is it to salvage the remnants

i've decided to pass on it for the time being, in the future when i have a bit more EB in jerome's pocket i'll try to get him some light armor.

btw will the Carrybag be enough to store all the "big gear" that can't go into the utility belt or i'll need another small bag?
 
Anything you can't stuff in the bag you can hang off a belt or shoulder pouch.
People sorta expect Techs to have tools dangling off them, same as they expect Solos to have guns/swords.

If you're feeling ambitious get a backpack and double it's price to account for it having numerous pouches, roll-out tool holders, etc. built into it. And if it's a concern you can have it armored (cost will depend on the amount of armor) as well; electronic tools in particular tend to react badly to bullet holes.

i am unfamiliar with the size of some of the tools listed in my gear, it wouldn't be smart to have bulky gear dangling on you if you run into trouble or want to hightail it out of a place.
i've considered having the bag armored, but im unsure how i armor it - is "adding armor to clothes" applicable to the bag as well?
