Gwent: Fishing Simulator 2018 ('Create' Cards)

+
It is getting worse with every patch. I get that HS brings a lot of money and they try to make some terrible copy of it, but come on, Gwent was once a fantastic game and now it is a poor shadow of the once glorious itself.

So far it feels, looks and plays ridiculous. Power creep is insane too. I had a casual game r1 that finished with 190 points on both sides with 2-3 cards left and no additional card drawing.

Said it for long already. It was obvious their need to control the game given the most common human behavioral patterns which can be summarized as "I won, I rock / Let me buy some more vs. I lost, bad luck ". And as the bad luck will be like "bearable", no worries for cashflow. HS recipe. Patent registered by Activision with US Pattent Office.

It was their patch by patch strategy....to take the HS path as it is way more profitable. Average and / or hurried people are representing the vast majority of our world. They are the target and not the 2% Mensa eligible ones. What I don't understand is why they didn't create 2 different ladders/ game modes: one under the Lady Luck charms and the other for Brainiacs.

Imo, nowadays Gwent is nothing but "a walking dead"

Yep it's not even remotely close to how the game was before or how it was in Witcher 3. I wanted to play a polished version of that not this wannabe hearthstone crap.

Got Aguara from a keg and slapped her in a deck to see what the create fuss is all about.

Went up against NR, played Aguara, all three spells were great, and ended up obliterating Ronvid with Artefact Compresion.

A few games later, played her again, and the only choice that didn't screw me over was Bekker's Twisted Mirror, reshuffling points between my own units, so a 2 point gold.

Don't know how to feel about all of this yet. It's fun, but losing to it sucks and winning with it feels hollow.

Exactly. Because you know that you weren't the one who lost or won the game. It was just a lucky and COMPLETELY RANDOM spawn. Lucky draws are always a thing in card games but this just got out of hand.

This 1000x, the amount of RNG is insane. I hate having winning or losing come down to pure luck of the draw. There will always be that factor but this is affecting the game way too much now, please make changes before this gets completely out of hand.

I actually played 5-7 matches today. After Skelliege pulled 2 x Morkvargs and an Olgierd on round 1 I closed the game. I only spent about 50$ during the course of a year or so, got my fun out of it. I just hope CDPR turns around and listens to the community. I do not think cloning HS will make more people play Gwent, but will absolutely make people leave.

Most of the new RNG cards are not meant for ladder and competitive play. They can win you a game one time and screw you the next time which make them unreliable. Now the cards are new and all people are eager to try those new cards regardless of their mechanism and regardless if they actually fit in their deck or not.

Personally I try not to rely on RNG much and just using Runestone (since it gives a faction specific card). Updated my weather Eredin deck with trolls and it's rocking now. Problem occurs when the RNG-lover-enemy just pulls a very random and irrelevant card out of arse and turns the tide.

Then why on earth they were added to the game? We have more than enough RNG in matchmaking, coinflip and card draws, does the game need a bunch of cards that win you a game or screw you next time based on pure luck? Honestly, this is a great mistake but devs are not reading the forums, are counting money

Agree about gwent becoming more of "casino" type of game with new patch bringing HUGE power creep, and increasing RNG influence by A LOT.

I actually moved from TESL to GWENT one month ago because it seemed a game with less RNG influence where your decisions mostly win or loose games. And now this happened.

I like some of the changes but all conections issues, bugs and other things the whole thing feels rushed.

And the elephant in the room is not addressed at all. The freaking coin that gives +-20% chance to win.

You can built a deck around the RNG. If you know you Create cards that will pull a specific type of card, and there are only 12 or so cards in that grouping, if 3 of them are amazing, the odds of pulling one of those 3 are high, and you can built around that.

You are not forced into using RNG cards, and many of them can be built with some syngery in decks. I've played Gwent in Witcher 3, I've played a lot of Gwent as the stand alone game, and it has been a ton of fun. The claim RNG and random will destroy the game is overhyped.

You play a RNG card that helped you, there is a good chance you have a deck built for that, or you truly just got lucky. Deck Building, timing of when to play cards is still key. Not every card is great and not every change in this patch is perfect, but is it NO where near the DOOM and GLOOM of these type of threads, and it will be that much harder for the Devs to fix the real issues, when they have to sort through all these drama threads.

Warned this was gonna happen when like 3/5 of the new cards were revealed...

All this new 'Spawn' and 'create' was sure to bring tons of RNG.

Before this, people complained of RNG but it was only the coin flip, mulligan and only a few cards like Johnny & Sara, Avallach Sage, Gaunter oDimm, NR field medics and few others.

Now that number has gone up at least 5x, including several Leaders and Golds. I've had Uma transform into Kiyan, spawn an Alchemy (that is 3 options twice!)

Oh, and if the new RNG cards werent enough, Gaunter was freakin changed because guessing from your opponent's deck isnt random enough - now you have to guess from ALL FREAKIN CARDS IN THE GAME...

I try to avoid as much as possible but when a consume deck pulls a totally random Artifact Compression out of an Aguara that he created through Uma's Curse, I tend to lose my temper.

A good solution for it is adding the Created card to your hand and playing some card then, even the card you just created. So this could balance the RNG a bit, as you often get cards that are not useful now but are useful later. This was posted in another thread and if we MUST have RNG, I'd take that at least.

However, it really makes no sense to me, having that amount RNG in a game like this. We get a new NG leader who is SPYING (hype!) and then what does he do? he randomly gives you 3 options for leaders. If you pull Emhyr or Cahir, great. Radovid and Henselt might be situational but possibly good. Anything else, better luck next time mate. Like, his ability doesn't even make sense.

At least the Whispering Hillock is actually a pretty useful leader. I feel the organic pool is the right size and with the right cards to do things with. Still completely outclassed by everything else, and still no other option for Moonlight decks though -_-

I don't like the Create mechanic either, but I can live with it. I only hope the new mode they are planning (they said in a stream that Create cards are mostly aimed for a new mode, not the current ones) is worth it. It's a real shame because the new cards are simply amazing. Shupe's Bizzare adventure, Ciri: Nova, NR cursed, almost all of them are great. The consistent ones at least, you can see the creative thinking that went behind them.
