The Swap update is now live!

The new update for GWENT: The Witcher Card Game is now available on PC, Xbox One and PS4!

With this update, our main focus was to change cards with the Create ability, as well as to adjust the Swap mechanic. Detailed update overview can be found here.

The following cards will have increased value for milling for 3 days following the release of the patch – until Friday, May 25th, 12 PM CEST (noon):
  • Stribog Runestone
  • Zoria Runestone
  • Dazhbog Runestone
  • Devana Runestone
  • Morana Runestone
  • Black Blood
  • Slave Driver
  • Elven Scout
  • Winch
  • Doppler
  • Elven Wardancer
  • Vrihedd Vanguard
  • Olgierd von Everec
  • Dun Banner
  • Brouver Hoog
When milled, the cards on the list will yield an amount of scraps and powder needed to craft a card of the same value.

Full list of changes:
  • Swap abilities no longer trigger during redraw phases, so Swap's definition has been changed to: Move a card from hand to deck and draw another in its place during your turn.

Neutral:
  • Provocation (Black Blood) ability has changed to: Create any Bronze Necrophage or Vampire and boost it by 2.
  • Doppler's ability has changed to: Spawn a random Bronze unit from your faction.
  • Olgierd von Everec's ability has changed to: Deathwish: Resurrect this unit to the same position.
  • Olgierd von Everec's power changed from 9 to 5.

Monsters:
  • Devana Runestone will now be able to Create both Silver and Bronze cards.

Skellige:
  • Stribog Runestone will now be able to Create both Silver and Bronze cards.

Northern Realms:
  • Zoria Runestone will now be able to Create both Silver and Bronze cards.
  • Winch's ability has changed to: Boost all Machine units on your side by 3.
  • Dun Banner's ability has changed to: If you are losing by more than 25 on turn start, Summon this unit to a random row.

Scoia’tael:
  • Morana Runestone will now be able to Create both Silver and Bronze cards.
  • Elven Scout's ability has changed to: Swap a card.
  • Elven Scout's power changed from 1 to 10.
  • Wardancer's ability will no longer trigger during redraw phases.
  • Vrihedd Vanguards's ability will no longer trigger during redraw phases.
  • Brouver Hoog's ability has changed to: Play a non-Spying Silver unit or Bronze Dwarf from your deck.

Nilfgaard:
  • Dazhbog Runestone will now be able to Create both Silver and Bronze cards.
  • Slave Driver's ability has changed to: Set an ally's power to 1 and deal damage to an enemy by the amount of power lost.
  • Slave Driver's power changed from 1 to 10.

Game fixes:
  • Fixed an issue whereby Alpha Werewolf's ability was triggered by Full Moon on the opponent's side.
  • Fixed an issue whereby it was impossible to Spawn a unit on a full board despite the fact that the unit was Spawned as the result of an ability that destroyed another unit on the board first.
  • Fixed an issue whereby cards could be redrawn before the redraw screen appeared.
  • Fixed a visual glitch that appeared when hovering the cursor over an opponent's Spying unit whose ability had not yet resolved.
  • Vabjorn's tooltip now accurately states that he can only damage enemies.

Thank you for delivering the so long awaited patch, but not giving full mill value for cards that were obviously nerfed rather than reworked simply feels bad...

Gutted about Doppler, I've only just started using it for a certain deck (Reavers), maybe you could change it to where the card would spawn a random copy of either bronze currently card played this game, random bronze played from your faction, random bronze from both decks, play a random bronze from ALL factions with the same power as the last bronze that appeared.. There's so much more you could do with the card, it's basically a non include in 99% of decks.

Ι was kinda hoping you guys would actually do something about some cards that weren't mentioned in the video. You know. Triss: TK, Hym's second option, Isengrim: Outlaw, Aguara: True Form, or Kiyan. Surely it can't be hard, after months of complaints from the players about the create mechanic.

Then the update was only a few MBs which was already suspicious. and boom, that's it, nothing else was changed. Nearly everything else stayed the same. Olgierd does not fit in the monsters at all now, because nothing can tutor him. All monster deathwish tutors are for bronze deathwish monsters. Griffins cannot trigger his deathwish either.

No change to consume and NG handbuff ,
(create cards should show only 2cards in ranked if you cant remove them).
AND NO PTR AGAIN...

Greatswords when they move to Graveyard should be set with their base power. This was an awesome suggestion. Simple to fix and fixing one of the most broken cards. (Yeah yeah, Muzzle and AC will ruin it, so everyone should have them in their deck?)
Veteran vs Dennis Cranmer: 7 point bronze and 8 points silver having same ability. Dennis Cranmer should have been buffed or Veterans should have been changed.

But nothing. Nothing about SK. I think CDPR's favourite faction is SK. Everyone in the team plays and loves SK it seems. They beaibeautly balanced every other faction and didn't touch SK even though it clearly had broken cards and most of the community hated it and was expecting a balance.

Very disappointed with you CDPR.

I don't get all the negativity. I'm just thankful CDPR did a balance update whilst working on a completely new version.

Why do you get upset when CDPR doesn't nerf the exact cards you have an issue with? It literally is impossible to please everyone. And saying: "yeah, but a lot of people say this card sucks!" isn't making a point. A whole lot more people aren't saying it, so who knows, they all actually like the cards you hate?

To be fair they didn't touch vipers/ointment either.

I hate them too. A lot. But at least NG was touched upon with SD's change. At least SD can't be resurrected. But nothing for SK.

The same goes for Wardancer, Brouver, etc. right? A lot of people complained about it and it got balanced. To be clear and honest, I don't use/play any of the those broken cards. No WD, Brouver, Clever, VW, SD, GW, anything.

When one part of the game gets balanced, why not the whole of the game?

The SC and NR changes are fine but still it's underwhelming when you look at the amount of time between this and the last balancepatch.

- There are still a lot of dead cards that easily could've fixed with minor changes
- A lot of broken combo's are untouched
- From all the top tier decks SK has no nerfs
- Slave driver is another removal card

this update was already late, warcurser meta was an eternity. i realy hoped they will make small +1,-1 changes to vipers, halfelf, bearmaster, enforcer, drowner etc. :cirisad:

I am primarily a SK player, and even I am surprised to see no changes to Hym, Greatswords and probably Bearmasters. CDPR nerfed all top tier decks except GS which already had the highest winrate.

Furthermore, they are going the same path as Blizzard: nerfing good cards to the ground, but don't buffing bad cards.

And while some create cards are now much worse, overall create mechanic becomes an even bigger RNG. Hopefully, cards like these will be played only in Arena from now on.
