Ranked Matches and Ranking

We’ve just released a new update for GWENT: The Witcher Card Game, and with it we’re adding some of the biggest new features since the start of the Closed Beta. One of these features, and one we’d like to tell you a bit more about is ranked matches.

Ranked match is a new, season-based competitive game mode which unlocks as soon as you reach level 10. The main difference between Casual Match and Ranked Match is that winning a game, will also earn you rating points. These are used to determine two things: one is player rating -- the basis for you placing on the worldwide leaderboard, alongside other GWENT players, the other is your rank.

You initial rating and rank are determined based on how well you do in games before you unlock ranked play. There are currently a total of 15 ranks available in the game, with rank 15 being the highest. For every rank you gain, as well as for the highest rank at the end of each season, you will receive a reward. These can range from Ore and Cards to Card Scraps, and more. The higher the rank you reach, the bigger the reward you’ll get.

While winning a game will increase your rating points, losing will have the opposite effect, meaning your rating, and possibly your standing on the leaderboards, will drop. What will not decrease, however, is your rank. Let’s say you are currently rank 5. Even if you lose enough games for your rating points to fall below the threshold required to gain rank 5, you will not drop below rank 5 until the end of the season. We thought dropping ranks in addition to rating would make things unnecessarily complicated. Since you only receive the reward for gaining each rank once, as well as for the highest rank at the end of the season, we decided on keeping ranks persistent.

We hope you enjoy playing this new game mode, as well as the many new things we’ve introduced in the latest update. For a detailed list of changes, make sure to check out the full changelog, available here. And remember -- you can always let us know what you think about the game in the comments, or drop us a line on Facebook and Twitter.

Thank you for the update!

Could you please tell me, are cards as rewards fixed for every rank or they are random? I mean, for example, I received Ciri after winning some games -- are other players receiving her?

Believe it is normally 2 months, but this one is just a test and should be shorter. They said they will add new cards each season.

i am sorry to post here, i searched everywhere and gave up on the 4th page of search results:

i would like to know something about the decks of the ranked players.

maybe the faction, maybe faction and leader, maybe the 4 golden cards on the deck used on the last match by that player, maybe 4 goldens and 6 silver, maybe just the last card used on the last round of the last match. ideally the entire deck.

Lol, I wouldn't like my enemies to see my deck. If we met again I'd be at disadvantage, and I wouldn't like seeing others' decks either.

not knowing at least what factions leaders are on the top does not help to balance the game at all; What is best ranked Sk player, the best ranked monster player, are any of they among top 100?

i do not need more than 2 matches to know what cards my enemy uses. For ST, SK and NR players, i see 20+ of their cards over the course of a single match often enough to make the point of "not seeing the deck" moot.

Well, what if people play multiple factions? The top rank people may play several. How would you include the info of that in the table?
