The Change to Freya and Sigrdrifa

I don't understand this myth that they've 'nerfed' SK's resurrection. They've got nearly a dozen ways and means to get cards out of the deck if you factor in cards who auto-res. They changed it, that doesn't mean they nerfed it. Freya was too powerful, that's not news, and while the change might seem painful, it's mostly for the better. Freya only resurrecting soldiers ONLY means she resurrects almost all of SK's core and best cards. That's hardly a problem.

I've moved the discussion to its own thread because it was moving away from the purpose of the original thread and because it has generated enough discussion value to warrant its own thread.

I will just clarify that I meant to say that Auckes was basically a staple for many NG decks during this past fall against Bran decks with Cerys, Morkvarg, and Olgierd since they were all great lock targets (particularly Cerys).

I do think you weaken your argument a bit more with your last post by talking about "samey and boring" (omnipresent, etc). with cards like Freya being a very common card. My point remains that it is highly likely that there are certain cards in TCGs that will be very common, and some to the point of being a staple. As long as they aren't broken, I don't see what the problem is with certain cards being common. I also think there are enough different factions and different cards (especially with 100 new cards after the mid winter update) that things aren't too repetitive. It just so happens that revive cards happen to be omnipresent/staples in card games regardless of whether someone likes it or not, and that is because they are key SUPPORT (in caps because I can't make it in bold on this forum) cards.

I am pretty sure you and I are going around in circles arguing, and I don't know about you, but I think I have said about all that I wanted to say about this topic. I would like to hear other people share their views on this subject of the new/changed/nerfed Freya and Sigrdrifa though. Are the changes too harsh, just right, or is there a middle ground between the old Freya and Sigrdrifa and the new versions in the post-mid winter update?

This did deserve its own topic, and so I'm actually happy these posts were split off from the other Skellige topic.

The nerf to the Priestesses is understandable, but what they did to Sigdrifa is BS. If they dont want to be able to revive any bronze or silver units from GY, at least make her be able to revive any bronze or silver of the SK faction, this 'Clan' restriction is terrible.

I don't get the Sigrdrifa change either. The only logic I could see would be that she used to be the same power level as Shani, a gold, but Shani now provides armour to a ressed unit so that doesn't make sense either. I don't remember drifa doing anything abusive (certainly not to the level of Paulie/Hattori in Casino dorfs)

iamthedave Exactly. She is even Doomed, so you cant use Restore on her, which i admit could be too powerful. So the situation is this: SK, which is supposedly the 'Ressurection' faction, cant do any "rez chains" at all, and instead has 3 different bronzes which in fact makes ressurecting harder.

Meanwhile, we're getting crazy chains on SC and NG. I've seen NG putting 5 or 6 units on board on a single turn with ressurects ffs!

Novice into ointment into Novice into ointment into... slave infantry?

I'm confident CDPR just didn't realise this would happen. It's surprising how often developers miss interactions between cards. They do it all the time in Magic: The Gathering, too, and they literally playtest new sets a year in advance, for about a year, hoping to spot anything broken or abusive. Card games are really complex.

People are looking too much into this because not every single change is made as a balance change, sometimes they want to make a card but there is already a card that does the same thing or is too similar so what they do is they change that card so they can make this other card they had in mind.
The only logical expanation to all this is that they wanted to make more resses and since Freyas were ressing pretty much everything and Vicovaro is a NG card they went with changing Freya to be able to make all these other resses we got.

Freya wasnt OP and can never be since she relies on the targets she is ressing so as long as they dont make OP bronzes in SK that can be ressed by Freya she would be fine but that doesnt matter now so :comeatmebro:
