Merchants' Inventory

Do merchants' crafting and alchemy recipes inventory take into account what I already have? E.g. if I already possess the formula for Swallow, would a merchant possibly still sell it?
In The Witcher 3 I never had to buy a formula (as far as I can recall) for potions, I got all the recipes by looting. I'm also wondering if the same is possible in Witcher 2.

They're still selling all of their formulas regardless, but you should see the check mark next to recipe's name in case you already have it.
