I felt the same for him that I did for Iorveth. Both are definitely rough around the edges but I grew to like Olgierd as much as I did Iorveth and he's become one of my favorite characters. As far as the DLC, it is incredibly well done and the story was just so tragic, Iris really didn't deserve everything she was dealt, Olgierd deserving it depends on your perspective, and that is why I can see people siding with O'dimm, as he claims, he already knows peoples rotten natures. Does evil spread itself or does it spread where the fruit is already ripe for the plucking? One thing about HOS that I think should've been added would've been a pathway of choices to reunite Iris and Olgierd(after his heart is softened and the curse broken of course). If not for him then at least for Iris. Other than that HOS is damn near perfect.
