why why why [did these quests fail]????

ok so i have failed like 5 missions already and didnt even have a chance to do them... why why why? they arent timed or nothing but i dont get it. i love the game like totally its beautiful but it just upsets me that i have failed some missions and to top it off it still has bugs and glitches lol

@goddesschick , rather simply put, certain quests can indeed be failed, if a player misses the event that begins them, or makes one choice over another. It's part of the design. In a way, it's a bit like life: wherein it isn't always possible to do everything at once; however, unlike real life, thankfully, you've the chance to play again, discover new things, and make different choices.

Which missions did you fail? The quests and contracts are tied to a certain level, that is, the game tells you "Ok, if you want to do this quest, you'd better be at level 5 or higher". I made the mistake of trying to fulfill the ghoul contract in Velen with a lvl 4-Geralt. I failed miserably simply because I didn't watch out for the quest's level but started hacking away at those ghouls. Always try to stay close to the level suggested by the game or, preferably, try to level up until you're about 2-3 levels above the suggested level, then do the quest/contract. I found that this works pretty good.

Be careful when you walk around Novigrad cause there are some missions that can be triggered way to early.. Like the one where you have to protect that guy.. there's no warning that your level is too low. And if you leave that quest when you are sick of trying over and over you fail the quest. In other words.. make sure you save a lot cause you will need to go back a few times, thats just the way it is with this game.

Don't worry about it it's normal as many of the random encounter Quests are time specific. If you don't do them straightaway & advance the story line via main quests they fail. Don't think I have completed a play trough yet without having a few failed quests. Some Quests are connected to others Gangs of Novigrad for example is just one route to help find Junior & that will also fail if you choose not to use Clevers help.

out of my 6 times I only did it once. Then I tried to do it a 2nd time, but they released some patches that made it impossible.
I still havent tried the latest patch

Yep I had that same problem I found him on my own first time round so it failed then next time we kicked arse in the casino then for some reason those dwarfs all died just as we went into the arena leaving me to face Juniors men all on my own so it failed.

Actually is was allways possible to do those quests. This is how you had to do it back then:
One has to first speak to Reuven to obtain the quest;
Then, before proceeding to either the casino, arena or the hideout, speak to Cleaver.
Thereafter, attack the casino together with Cleaver's henchmen.
Only then do you attack the arena ON YOUR OWN. This is the only way to obtain the hidden stash.
Return to cleaver and obtain half of the reward to finish Gangs of Novigrad.
Proceed to check the hideout, and Roche, and then the chess club. And complete Get Junior.

Note that there will be red crosses on the completed quests when you do check them, but there will not be any quests marked as 'failed'.

Actually, there is another way.

1. Talk with Reuven and obtain "Get Junior"
2. Go to Cleaver and get "Gangs of Novigrad" going
3. No need to take the Cleaver minions into either location. Just talk with them, but tell them to stay put for now.
4. In the arena, you can go in under cover or as a witcher (or with the Cleaver minions). The minions will attack anyway, but it's THEIR decision, so you're still in the clean.
5. In the casino, if you go in alone to play some more Gwent and then tell them after your assault on the place that you did it all by yourself, the minions will be in a funny mix of awe and surprise and they won't mind it at all.
6. Go to Cleaver and tell him what you did.
- If you went in with the minions, it's a small sum of gold and a happy Cleaver
- If you went into only one location with the minions, it's half the sum of gold and still a mostly happy Cleaver
- If you went solo into both locations, Cleaver knows about it already, gives you no gold and is still a quite happy Cleaver (he saved some coins, but the job was done, so hurray for him)
7. Go to see Roche and continue with Get Junior
8. If you didn't go into either location with the minions, you are now free to sneak into the Junior compound in Oxenfurt via the backdoor, which makes the fight in its outdoor areas quite a bit easier.

No failed quest that way.
I do not care at all about Red Xs on single objectives, so I don't know how many Red Xs this results in.

Now, failing "like 5 missions" otherwise means probably a choice of Eye for an Eye, Redania's Most Wanted, Now or Never, A Matter of Life of Death, Last Wish, Following the Thread?

Last Wish and Following the Thread involve NPCs who must shift their location for Ugly Baby. It's true, there is no explicit warning. You were only told by Yennefer to hurry and that she wouldn't stay for long

The other ones you were warned about when you sailed to the Isle of Mists.

Might try that method if I ever play though again although I like the other route of playing qwent in the casino then finding the fight pass & battling it out in the arena. God I hate that hidden stash as it's almost impossible to get in the right position to open the room without lighting the torch.

it's normal, some quests can fail if you start another new quest without completing the other quests

I prefer not talking to cleaver's men because that takes out the stealth element form the quests..also when you finally reach the whoresons hideout after meeting radovid the henchmen recognizes you if you attacked with cleaver's men..but if not then they will ask you to take the whore's through the secret passage and that is fun..

Hmmmmmmmmm sounds really interesting..... I really have to try this out the next time. What exactly is this "secret passage" and what can be found inside? :)

Tunnel from basement of Oxenfurt's blacksmith, into sewers, into basement of Whoreson's estate.

What's inside... well, feline pants upgrade schematic, but that normally becomes accessable later again; and is accessable before Get Junior anyway. Nothing else, except maybe some mushrooms.

Have to dig this thread up because I've been playing for hours today and, after meeting with Roche, Dijkstra and Thaler, I saw that there was a yellow exclamation mark behind the house where the guys had just met. So I went there to see what was going on and got a contract - kill a monster in warehouse. Since Geralt is already at lvl. 35 and the contract is for, I think, lvl. 15 or something like that, I thought I'd do it later and finish the current quest first - get Radovid to come with me. On my way to the ship, all of a sudden the game informed me that I had just failed the warehouse quest and I have no idea why. With all the other failed quests, I know why they are marked as failed. With this one - no clue. Any ideas?

That particular quest is time-limited. You're responding to a specific incident, if you don't do it immediately, they move on.

The only quest I've failed was curing Lena in the White Orchard, who was wounded by the griffin.

I just could not find the ingredients needed to create a potion. And after you leave the area, the quest fails...

Somehow the Quest about Radovid, Sigi and Roche faild althoug I ended it. The quest was over but still in the log. After I headed to the last main quest I got a message that it failed. Also in the end summary, there were no mention about Geralt beeing involved in this.
