Is Geralt based on any real life character?

I think Geralt is the most interesting character and wondered if he is taken from someone in real life? I also think the voice acting and casting of such is the best I have ever seen or heard in any game in over my 20 years playing games.

I agree, but I'm afraid only Sapkowski could answer about his inspiration for Geralt. Plus, the novel version of Geralt is a bit different. If you've never read the books, you should!
