[mod] armor difficulty increase mod (EE compatible)
since TWEE i cant run .lua based mods anymore. dont know why but no matter what i do, there's no way to run orkish difficulty mod. placing files in the witcher/data/override folder doesnt work for me. converting lua to luc doesnt work neither. extremely disappointed i couldnt accept the game being so easy so i looked for a way to fix it. there is a simple workaround for orkish mod.the game wont be as difficulty as with orkish mods but its at least something. playing the game i found out that armors give significant boost to survivability.i decided to completely remove armor protection bonuses and it works just perfectly for me. i hope you'll find it usefull as well.to install the mod simply extract the archive to /data/override folder or if it doesnt work, create "uti" folder in /data and place it there.enjoyedit: for the note, mod is not retroactive. it wont change existing armor you already wear because existing armor stats are held in save file. either find/get/buy/make new armor or start new game.
after extensive forum and google search i found nothing working with the witcher. i need a tool or other method to recompile luc files into bifsi know about override folder, i dont want it. it supposed to work but it doesnt for some strange reason. i want to force the game to read the changes.
there is a way. search for "wiemdzmin" on forum. it allows to extract needed files from .bif. then you'll have to find a file responsible for xp gain and modify it.i dont have detailed answer how to make this mod but i know a bit about witcher. first time i hear about lower exp rewards on high difficulty. its easy to check it yourself, start game on easy and play 10 minutes in prologue. you'll notice that each killed bandit is worth 10 xp. try it on hard and you'll get same 10 xp. maybe there is a difference somewhere but i never noticed any. even if there is a difference, there are numerous unlimited spawning points in game. if you like grinding and power-gaming you can kill enemies up to lvl 50 and more. thats why some poeple finished the game on lvl 30, others on lvl 50.also if you want any challange, picking medium difficulty for (supposedly) higher exp gain will make the game twice less fun. it will be easier because of enemy stats and easier because of higher lvl, thats mega easy. hard difficulty is still VERY easy for any experienced rpg player. you dont even have to use 90% of geralt equipment. no salves, bombs, whetstones are needed. you need 1 or 2 eliksirs and thats all. you can stand in the middle of 10 drowners, leave computer for an hour, come back and you'll be full health.in my humble opinion, dont even consider taking medium difficulty if you want any challange in game.
i checked it again. maybe we understand sequences different. but what about dmg they do to you? it should be smilar regardless of the way we look. check the average, or min-max.dmg dealt by me2x (sequence) 3x left mouse button clicks each worth 2 hits. all without breaking the sequence so i get increasing damage( 5+5, 11+11, 22+22 ) x 2 sequence = around 152
did you carefully compared it modded and without mod?prologueheavy bandits sequence dmg around 5-11-22, 2x sequence = dead, they hit me for around 5 dmgfast bandits 3x full fast sequence = dead, they hit me for 1 dmg.thats both with and without the mod. no difference. i checked it in prolouge and in act 1 with ghouls, drowners and barghests. no difference at allalso i thought that patch 1.4 changed original structure of files responsible for difficulty so i extracted luc files from scripts00.bif then i uncompressed them with luadec, luc to lua and compared with orkish files. file structure is identical. mod should work but it doesnt. its really strange but 2da files work, lua files stopped working. and i tried both mod 1.04 and 1.05, doesnt work at all.
they are part of other compressed files and i dont know which and how to extract them. if i could get them i would easily edit them to get same result orkish did but i see little help from experienced modders which is disappointing.
ok, i can definitely confirm that difficulty increase doesnt work which is not something unusual. game is based on same engine and file structure as nwn and there hakpaks often doesnt work with new patches. its not that it wont work in future but this mod must be remade again. extracting files from 1.4 version of the game and updating them with difficulty changes.
youngneil1 orkisz havent been seen from some time1) im trying the mod with twee. camera works, movements works but i dont see ANY increase in difficulty. guess that mod isnt compatible anymore but i have to test it more to be sure2) dont remember how was it before but with twee its still SO very easy. its almost impossible to die3) just remove moverates.2da from override folder. you dont like talent changes, remove talentstable.2da. you dont like camera... you know the drill4) yes. there are few problematic places. just delete the mod for a minute to trigger event and install again after.
Yes, I agree in 100%. I hope that CDProject RED is going to continue behaving like that with their new productions.Good job Guys eace:I'm really proud now to say that I'm from Poland in an international players forums. Just don't screw it
The equipment is only supposed to be enhanced into more transparent in EE. For example there's going to be separate slot for ingredients (and i think that there's going to be 14 more places for these small things, but I'm not sure ;D).So don't worry, the game will be still realistic about equipment. There will be no Rambo-witcher
Well, there are some things that refer to the books - main characters have the same past as characters from book. So it is based on the books. But common mistake is to consider the game as a continuation of the Saga. A. Sapkowski said that story about Geralt ended definitely after Pogrom in Rivia. He denied also that the game could be continuation of his books.
