Yeah, first person melee has always been kinda slow and methodical, which is fine if you wanted like, first person Dark Souls

I think the original Dead island on console had this neat little option that allowed the movement of the stick on your controller to dictate the direction of your swings of a melee weapon. that feature was probably the coolest i've seen in any game to be honest. if First person melee was dynamic, responsive and as fluid as how that felt, i would be pleasantly surprised.

You clearly dont understand how hard it is to make games if you think its simple put in a toggle, and arguing that third person is inherently superior in terms of immersion is stupid. Its clearly subjective as CD Projekt is arguing in favor of First Person and immersion is primarily a matter of execution and not camera placement.

Yeah, I'm not bothered by the people saying they have motion sickness, or even the people who like myself, think melee combat works a lot better in third person... but the "how hard could it be?" folks make me think "booooooooooooooy..."

>Pointless character customization
Yeah. I really dont see any point for character customisation in this game. To be able to see it in my inventory? Are they joking? Even dialogues will be in fpp. Why were they bragging so much about this? About all those clothes we will be able to wear? What is the point of that if i can only see it in inventory and during cutscenes? Also, if we can only play in fpp mode because they care so much about "immersion", why cutscenes are not in fpp also? I mean, if switching from fpp to tpp is so immersion breaking, switching from fpp gameplay to non fpp cutscene is not? How? More I think about it, more I hate this decision.

Whyyyyyyyyyyyy would you make it a FPS? I get terrible motion sickness when playing fps games, feels like throwing up and get annoying headaches. Your reasoning is "MUH IMMURSION" immersion=/=FPS. Witcher was just as immersive as any FPS i've played. CDPR YOU WERE THE CHOSEN ONE. You made no mistake but this is your first strike. I'm severely disappointed

i'm not one of those people, but man would it speak volumes of CDPR if they put their nose to the grindstone and implemented both perspectives.
Quite frankly that probably isnt financially an option to spend a LOT of time remaking things to appease a vocal minority, most of whom will still buy it.

Most of the problem (aside from the folks that have genuine motion sickness) could be that we are mentally reskinning the Witcher 3 as Cyberpunk 2077 and it's jarring to hear that it will be first person instead. At least 15% of what I liked about the Witcher 3 was the ability to wear different armors, dye armors, change hairstyles, etc etc, and see those changes represented on screen. I remember countless times when would position my character against sunrises and sunsets and just enjoy how I customized Geralt. I'm sure that there will be an in-menu option where you can see your character and actually see the customization, but it would be very unfortunate to only be able to see your character during cut scenes or during cover sequences like Deus Ex. At an absolute minimum, I hope they allow us to have a third person perspective (with camera control), even if you can't actually move your character while you are in that mode. In an ideal world, they would just do like GTA V did and give us both options. I, for one, would pay for the game again if it released with a third person mode (like the reverse of what GTA V did when it went next gen). I'd also wait longer for this game if it meant a third person mode could be added. I trust CDPR, however - I don't think they would do this unless it was for a good reason...I hope they release a tiny slice of gameplay soon...it would go a long way to allaying our fears.

Well, technically you could walk with your avatar on stations.

But yeah, customization will be there, but you won't see it most of the time, based on experience on previous RPGs, the most exposure you gonna have to your avatar will be through the Inventory menu.

Implementing Cybernetics in the UI is nice and all but not THAT important.
Not everyone feels that FPP = Immersion either, I want to be conviced by CDPR that FPP is the best option here, but I just don't see it for now.
That was back in 2004 though, there wasn't something like that back then. Good that they worked on it later on.

While I can understand the immersion argument, I don't understand not having a toggle for it. I can go for immersion/sharpshooting sometimes and meleeing/moving around other times. I constantly switch views in Elder Scrolls and Fallout series and more recently in R6 Wildlands. It adds great flexibility to gameplay and customize your experience that best fits the situation.

FP shooting, great. FP melee though, I never saw a good example of it, because it's fundamentally disadvantaged. Inherent reduced situation awareness and clumsy positioning, limited physical play or confusing interaction. I avoid it like the plague if it's multiplayer and can barely tolerate it in single-player if I really really want to play the game. The main reason I still haven't finished Kingdom Come, even though I kickstarted it.

I definitely cannot see myself as a melee specialist character here due to this. Blocked a whole kind of play-through for me.

I mean I'll still be buying and playing every last bit of this game :p
But a third person view would have been great.
I agree I'll buy, but I lost the love, maybe playing maybe I surprise myself ..... I like first-person games far cry is an example, if cyberpunk is innovative, we look at the "landscape" inside the car

And you know we're a minority... how?
Doesn't matter who's a minority and who's not. They're almost certainly too deep in development to be adding or changing perspectives at this point. This is what they wanted to do and what they chose, and I don't think they need to back their decision with a popularity contest.

I'm still willing to give it a shot and hope for the best, but I'm more than ready to roll a new character if melee combat is boring.

Jesus, stop overreacting, people. You're fighting the wrong enemy. If some of you suffer from motion sickness, then switching to TPP won't do much good, only doctor's attention will.

Natural causes for motion sickness and generally FPP being uncomfortable are low FOV and input delay (source engine game, bioshock infinite). If CDPR are aiming for excellence, we'd be able to set desirable FOV anyway and input delay should be a non-issue.

Get a grip. Especially you, @wisdom000

How about you worry about you, and I will worry about me. You don't get to dictate how others feel about this decision, and you damn sure don't get to define my physical reaction to first person or how to deal with it.
