Reward points after a completed season

As I'm still pretty new to the game, I was surprised to get reward points after the last season ended today (yesterday when you read it). Where do these points come from, how can I influence them (if at all), and where can I see the progress regarding these points (if there is progress of sorts)?

For any help I will grant 5 reward points -> .....

The higher you're rank is, the more reward points you earn - note the ranks progress in reverse, from 30 (lowest) to 0 (highest). Here's the image with the ranked groups:
