I'm still not positive who I'll choose. I hope that the others don't get overshadowed by Keanu and are equally as good of options. If Johnny Silverhand is as big of a part in the game as the trailer seems to hint at, the others will need to be comparable.

And about Keanu Reeves being included, I think him being a celebrity makes Johnny Silverhand more admirable, in a sense? It would've been hard for players to idolize him as a celebrity if it was a generic character. So I think it was a really cool idea on CDPR's part.

Wasnt there Kanye West rumours as well, I wonder if Kanye is one of the celebs too. Maybe the plan is to slowly reveal the celebs and make more hype for the launch.

Now we have to consider what other superstars they will have? Who else is really big in Hollywood?

Morgan Blackhand will probably be Pondsmith himself and Arasaka will be... who's a really big Japanese star?

There is definitely more to come, imho. Isnt Braindance somekind of celebrity thing too, you can become one of the celebs if you want.

From: https://www.mweb.co.za/games/view/t...3/A-look-at-braindance-in-Cyberpunk-2077.aspx

""celebrities are completely stripped of privacy as everyone can 'become' them with the use of braindance" "

Just wow, not just the fact that Keanu is in the game, but you can actually be him too?

Celebrities showing up in games is becoming more popular because games are melding with cinematic experience and are pretty much equal or more popular than what movies are today. Movies used to be much bigger than games and since games are getting more popular there is a welcoming demand for celebrities.

I am ok with Keanu being in game because of his past work. I am only ok with it though and think the game would have been fine without that type of presence. His "unveiling" was completely unexpected though and I think this is one of the best parts he will ever play.

What I absolutely do not want are celebrities like Kanye West or Lady Gaga showing up in this game or any sequels because they embody the "popstar" type from 2020. Like what they do IRL is equivalent to that frowned upon role from 2020. One or two celebrities are fine especially if they are really good at what they do. I would much rather see more "underground/unknown" types of people instead of these well known types. It truly is an immersion killer IMO.

If I see either one of those popstar twits in the game and automatically know they are going to be making more money from the role IRL, then immersion is dead for me and I will do everything in my power to destroy them from my "in game" experience.

Are they really becoming more popular? For my experience, celebs are one card to play for companies, once its played, they gotta do something else.

For actors a job is a job is a job...

Some parts are better than others and sometimes it isn't known if the job will be a hit. Johnny Mnemonic was a shat movie, but I love it and it's sort of a cult classic nowadays. When it came out...not so popular.

As of now, any game is absolutely one of the best things that could happen for any actor. Especially 2077 since, supposedly, it is to be ongoing with sequels expected.

You could be right, GTA5 was insanely popular, sure celebs know game industry now.

That's why I think he glitches out in the trailer. At first, I thought maybe V was dead/on ice after the shoot out with Dexter, and possibly V's mind was in the Net temporarily. But then if you see the other gameplay clips Silverhand is still in the real world with V too, but appears as a hologram, so I'm going with the former theory.

I think Silverhand may be the Yoda to the players Luke. Maybe appear when he needs to in the story, and the player may be able to use the chip to allow him to hack into isolated networks in the world.

Silverhand could be related to the Immortality Chip that "V" stole in the cinematic. Maybe he uploaded himself from the chip and into V's system during the time V was wearing him.

I bet Kanye is there, of course there gotta be something for black peope, Gaga for girls, Keanu for white dudes etc.
As it just so happens Maximum Mike (the original CP2020 RPG creator, who many of us would love to see portray Blackhand) is black.

(( Not that it's terribly relevant to anyone outside the SJW and skinhead crowds. ))

Curious to see who they will get to play Morgan. My vote: "Maximum Mike" Pondsmith...his creator.

I doubt Mike will portray an NPC in the game, but will 100% sure be tributed in some way. Probably in text form. He cameod in the Pen and paper RPG booklets multiple times as Maximum Mike and in Rache's brainware blowout as Omni Kismet, Ph.D (anagram for Mike Pondsmith)

Key Life Event and Why Night City are extremely limited and vague choices for a roleplay game. Do these choices even matter within the game? And why does my character have to fit within these choices?

In the info we got last year, these things were said to shape V's personality. Both the options you choose during character creation, and your actions during the game. I believe they make V act and talk differently, make you have differently themed dialog choices (as in VtM:B which devs touted as an inspiration)

Gaming industry has been bigger than Hollywood for some time now. It makes sense for movie stars to make moves toward games. Not to mention voice acting is quite an easy job for an accomplished actor. It doesn't matter how you look, only your voice matters.

I think this is a good point. There was something that kinda felt right about this reveal but I couldn't quite put my finger on it.

I hope many people will find the idea of Johnny Silverhand being a famous celeb easier to 'feel' now that it's Keanu, especially since part of his appeal is his general cool image and charisma/style. A purely fabricated Silverhand wouldn't have a head start like that and might have to do more to prove himself as being a believable, legendary icon. I think it'll also help no end with people unfamiliar with CP2020 and the character in particular.

Hmm, what with the fact that I keep reading how much money the games industry makes compared to other media combined, you're making me wonder whether in 20 years time they'll be as many actors made famous for their roles in games as movies. Actually, I imagine probably still have to earn their fame in movies first, but I can see them getting used more and more often, either way.

Maybe one of the things people will ask and wonder excitedly about in the future is, 'Ooo, I wonder who's gonna star in it?'.
