What kind of RPG elements will this game have?

+
I really hope intelligence and tech get a few more skills:sad:
I strongly believe that more skill trees will open up as the game progresses, there is no interface tree, and I don’t think they’ve shown crafting. There will also probably be a skill tree for the Flathead if it really is as robust as implied.

So far what I'm hearing from you guys (other than arguing over what an RPG is lol) is that you'll be able to level up attributes. Does anyone know of anything else? I remember there being different jacket options but will we have actual gear/armor(separate from cybernetic enhancements) as well? I don't really understand how the cybernetics work either, do you have to have certain stats to use or unlock certain ones or do you just buy whatever as long as you have the money?

Also, we've all heard about the (IMO) super creepy genital zooming FPP sex scenes, do we know if there's a way to set those to "fade to black" or something or are romance subplots just going to be a bust to those not looking for a porn sim?

Sex scenes will be in first person, so buckle up. As to RPG elements, they'll be showing the game in June.

I can see why the fade to black would be a nice feature, I can imagine there will be an option to skip instead though.
Also RPG elements... I suppose everyone's definition really is different.
Well romance is part of that category right, since story aspect... role-playing aspect? Idk. But I do look forward to that, just so the game doesn't feel "lonely". I understand we have Jackie but, gonna be honest, from what I saw I just don't really like the guy. I don't hate him or even dislike him, just don't care for him much and what happens to him, though that's only based on what I saw so far. It be cool to be able to have other characters to be close to and bond with. Also I haven't really played a game with romance before so it's interesting to me.

Given what little we currently know (as oppose to assume) cybernetics primarily give you options you wouldn't otherwise have. Mantis blades - Wall climbing. Mono wire - remote hacking and whip. Gorilla arms - ripping doors open. From this I think (THINK) we can safely assume other cyberware will be much the same. We know some (most?) cyberware is either/or so you'll have to decide which of the available options you want, i.e. wall climbing or whip or ripping doors open you can't have all three.

That makes sense but is also disappointing. Engineering as a tree seems to ve pulling triple duty while others are just for a few small things.
The problem is basic game design.
They want to limit the ability of players to become highly skilled with every type of combat, that's why it's been split into niche pieces, but at the same time they need to allow players that don't want to specialize in combat to perform other tasks. So you can be a Hacker or a Techie and be skilled with perhaps a single type of combat.
This isn't Fallout 4 or Skyrim, you can't become a master at everything.

Well romance is part of that category right

No, it's not. Having or not having "romances" do not diminish the role playing in a game. Fallout 1 and 2 don't have romances, do they? RPGs weren't invented by Bioware. They are nice to have because relationship enhance the story of a character, but they aren't necessary, thus they can't be defined as "RPG element".

Role playing elements are those systems that allow the player to take a role in a fictional setting. So classes, levelling systems, choices and consequences, dialogues options. And obviously an expansive quest design that allow the players freedom to take on a quest in the way he prefers and with the skills and knowledge that his "role" gives him/her.

Quest design will be a challenge in CB2077. I expect netrunner to be more than just hacking a couple of terminals and "skip" mob encounters.

We will see, but considering how the quest design in TW3 was worse than TW2, the fact that they have preferred to talk about genitals and sex scenes rather than actual quests and gameplay elements, bothers me.

They are as necessary as any kind of interaction, and everytime you cannot attempt something you are missing an RPG element.

For example I loved how Glory is in Shadowrun: Dragonfall Director's Cut, but I totally was frustrated not even being able to try to hook with her (even if it would have to end up with a "Keep it professional Deicide.").
And that's the problem: ideally, you should be able to try with anyone, even if it ends with a "Go f*ck yourself!".

That's where you wrong, kiddo. Fallout 1 has one night stand with girl you save in Junktown and you can flirt with BoS sis in Lost Hills bunker.
Fallout 2 has New Reno. Nuff said. Oh, and small date with Vault City girl.

Of course you missed everything because you're playing as a girl, do you?

Although it’s a joke, you can also get married in Fallout 2. Or, more like, you are forced to under certain circumstances.

Actually I did, but those you mentioned aren't "romances". And sex in Fallout 2 was an actual role playing mechanic that unlocked different quests resolutions.

Yes, in Modoc. But wasn't that cut content?

I want to be able to walk into any building and find something different than the last. Like a weird shop that only sells asian coins, and the shop owner calls me derogatory names until I leave. Or walking in on a car charging station hold-up, with the choice of either helping the robber, or cashier(s), with positive/negative consequences with each choice. Even a mundane outcome would be funny, like the cashiers saying something like, "well damn" if I help them... then nothing.

What about a gang/lone wolf/payed organization element, where you can start the first and last and lead it as an option.

Heck no! *unbuckles and ejects* I love romance subplots in stories including videogames but it's good to have the heads up so I can make sure to avoid any flirtation or anything that might lead to "romance" scenes like the plague :ROFLMAO:
