Why does V sound like a jerk?

+
Also notice what the door guard person says to V before he says anything, "Looks like trouble wants in"... not exactly welcoming, even rude anyone could say.

I totally love if people have different lines dependent on your reputation.

RDR2 has that and it makes things much more immersive when NPCs arent just robots always doing same things... I remember being greeted with "you cast a long shadow" when my bottom-reputation character met the fortuneteller Madame Nazar in RDR online...

Then he goes to the bouncer and demands things which reminds me of this cliche in movies where the rich guy drives his sports car to the front of the hotel, tosses the keys to a random person and asks "hey, be careful with this beauty, okay? "
V is the douche in this situation.

Reminded me of James Bond being tossed car keys in Casino Royale.. Sometimes being douche doesnt pay off.

speaking of sounding like anything, I've noticed some characters (npc, like the bouncer of the afterlife bar) have some sort of a robotic filter over their voice. could be many things, like an artificial larynx given the fact that so much parts of the human body are disposable and replaceable in CP2077. could also be a customization for shows, like those who color their skins metal, or give their retina a flashing red light... so I hope we would be able to modify our voices like that, possibly related to a mimic mod with which you would bypass door security and act as an ally in faction strongholds ?

Maybe V knows that there are dangerous enemies nearby and walking would just get him chased by them? Maybe V doesn't want to take risks in that situation for some reason we don't know yet. I did notice that V was very kind by parking their flying car way off to the side of the basket ball court, and I noticed that the basket ball players actually have to walk several feet to reach V's car while the car door is still slowly opening, because he parked so far away so as to be courteous to them, but they still wanted to act angry towards V, before even giving them a chance to explain why they parked there. Perhaps they were even a test, ordered by the team/faction that owns the club/bar to see if V could handle them, and test if he could handle the job they were going to possibly give him later.
If there really was a scratch on his car, I am absolutely certain V would talk to the team/faction leader, it would be quite the scene for sure, big story moment.
Just a guess.
Out of curiosity, are you a defense attorney? Because if not, you might have missed your calling...I haven't seen this kind of mental gymnastics and distortion of actual events outside of my ex when she sat at the defense counsel's table.

"Your honor, I move the case be dismissed despite what the dozen witnesses claim to have seen. Obviously, they were all mistaken and when they incorrectly thought they saw my client stabbing the alleged "victim" multiple times, what they actually saw was the real criminal aggressively throwing himself repeatedly up against my hapless client's knife he just happened to be innocently holding at the time. As to the false assertion that my client then hid the body, that was merely my ever-helpful client remembering the forecast called for rain that day and trying to protect the so-called "deceased" from getting wet while waiting for medical help by politely covering them with a mound of dirt." :p

Characters without a moral compass and complexity puts me off. That's why I dislike GTA games. Also, V sounds like a douchebag. I don't like to play like that. I was hoping to do playthroughs as a decent guy and even a meatbag. Looks like I'll have to lower my expectations with these aspects.
Hope CDPR will shed more light one the protagonists character.

I don't know about being a jerk, maybe it can also be due to the options that were chosen, but he definitely sounds different, like, trying to be edgy? Which is normal for Cyberpunk I guess, but I don't think it sounds very natural. For me he definitely sounded better before in the 2019 deep dive and trailer.

However I think that change in intonation has affected both Vs. I'm not completely sure cause FemV only appears once in all of the new gameplay and says 2 things, and one of them is very hard to hear cause it's super noisy.

Here's one where we can hear her clearly:

I'm not sure what happened but she seems like she's trying to sound like Batman lol.

Britney in What's Good Games was able to play the game too, and she says she didn't like FemV's voice in the 2018 demo (i loved it tho lol), but playing it during these 4 hours she liked it a lot, which makes me think it's probably gone under a big change (to Batman mode).

Agreed. This is best shown with the bouncer at the Afterlife.

Yeah I think a lot of it just comes down to the context what’s going on and to the Life Path. The landing at the Lizzie’s bar for instance comes down to the Life Path. Why does he land on the roof? Because he can, and he probably thinks no one there can stop him and those who can probably wouldn’t openly attack someone from Arasaka over parking.

In the Nomad clip the Dialogue and the options you can pick makes it Clear that they had agreed on a price and now this sleaze ball mechanic wants to squeeze you for more simply because you are a “Lone Nomad hugging the boarder”.

I swear there was part in a vid from this presentation somewhere, where you could see the options. The flying car tells V that there is no suitable parking location available and asks what corpo V wants to do. Im not 100% sure if there was an option to fly somewhere else, but whoever was playing picked the "just land as close as possible" and the car lands on the basketball court.

That's very funny, but no, I am basing everything I say off of direct literal accurate events that took place in the game play video. I haven't distorted anything. Anyone can watch the game play footage and see I have remained true and accurate and consistent to the events that factually took place. I rest my case.

V is nice to those who are nice to them, and mean to those who are mean to them. Each encounter, this has been the case. Fairly good compass if you ask me. :smart:

It just sounds like V is whispering now, + I notice she has a very beautiful accent now that she didn't before in the old 40 minute game play trailer. I really loved old female V's voice, but I also like the new one too.

He landed there because the car AI said there was no place to park.

Are you sure you aren't basing this on V talking to the captured monk with low voice trying to calm him down? BEcause in that particular instance, V DID sound like she was whispering, intentionally. Perhaps it was part of a playthrough where V was stealthing through enemies.

Wait... what is the video time stamp for when female V is talking, but not the part whispering to the monk?

The smoothest part of the released footage is getting out of the taxi on top of the club, confronted by the 3 thugs, hitting one in the face with the basketball and neck punching another while saying absolutely nothing, strutting away like a boss and you just swatted some flies. I'd play every interaction like that if I could, and it didn't even involve dialogue.

I love that it's an option, but I also want to experience lots of dialogue options, but yea I will also love doing this too, if bad guys wanna hurt V.

Im going to go look for it and edit it into this message when I find. Its going to take time cause there are so many previews out there..

EDIT: Well the part where she is whispering is in 8:10

EDIT x2: An easter egg? Someone said its Gaunter O'Dimm who arrests V and Jackie in the street kid intro? I haven't actually played W3 enough to know whether this is true.

EDITx3: Here 18:30 But shes only talking to herself

Yeah, the first one is the one I linked in my post. The second one is the one I mentioned is kinda hard to hear. In both she has the same intonation, obviously I'm not sure, but I think its just the way she is gonna sound now, since What's Good Games reported her voice is "much better" than how it used to be in 2018. I think they just changed both Vs styles of speaking to huskier, batmaner.

On second video, it did sound like she was mainly talking to herself and thus didn't really raise her voice. It was a "Hmmmm...." voice. The voiceline also sounded like musing that she was supposed to say when first seeing the place, not in middle of a firefight. Therefore I dont draw conclusions about V's changed voice from merely this video material. Too small a sample.

ps. Im liking Maelstrom more every time I see them... Here they were about to give this full-flesh monk some cyber just for the lulz
Now if only Royce wasn't such a huge dick that we can't get off on the right foot...

That part was badass. Reminds me of pragmatic Shepard in ME2 (with the QTE reactions) , whom I always played like that when the occasion presented itself.

I wouldn't go as far as to say it's an easter egg. They just look really similar. People like to see easter eggs everywhere lol.

Male V just sounds like a complete jerk to everybody in the new Night City Wire gameplay, especially with the Corpo and Nomad lifepath. I get that each of these lifepaths might bring a tone/attitude to V, but this just seems way over the top and exaggerated.

Also, male V's VA sounds like he's trying too hard. Not a bad thing, but it can break immersion sometimes.

It's a feature from having a voiced protagonist, enjoy it.
