I liked Bioware games of the past, but seeing the DA4 trailer reminds me of why Cyberpunk 2077 is so special:
1) Choices are not black and white. Bioware games has not evolved beyond the black and white good/bad choice concept. In Cyberpunk 2077 I am sure we will be in situations where we must choose between 2 or 3 bad choices with all bad outcomes. This often makes the world feel less gamey and more realistic as well as more dire.
2) The open world is more lively and dynamic. Bioware has yet to make a game with dynamic weather and day and night cycle. Obviously Cyberpunk 2077 will have them with great quality.
3) Realistic romances in that you just do not choose the "romance options" like in Bioware games, romances in CP2077 is said to be more dynamic and something you have to work towards.
4) Representations of a dark society. Bioware games recently like DAI often TELL you that this world is dark and grim but what you actually experience is bright and sterile. Cyberpunk 2077 is being marketed as the dark future and while the game will have many light moments, CDPR will not shy away from dark and controversial themes and displaying them in game and making the player experiencing them first hand.
5) Treating me like an adult. Recently with DAI and even MEA Bioware has made creative decisions because they didnt want to offend people. Bioware would have never had images such as the "Mix it up" or "3 mouths one desire" ads. I am an adult, put the content in the game and let me comprehend it the way I want. Do not treat me like a 12 year old who needs to be shielded from certain images. If Bioware made Night City, it would be told to us that this is a dark and dangerous city but what they give us would be safe and sterile free from anything that can offend any demographic groups. When it comes to violence DAI and MEA held back and was more inline with a T rated game rather than M rated.
I can go on but these are just some of many reasons why TW3 was such a breath of fresh air and why CP2077 appeals to me so much. Seeing Bioware back in the forefront with DA4 trailer just reminds me of all this.
