Ok, some of these are going to date me as an OG gamer. Listed below not in any order of favorites, but as liked games:
1. Companions of Xanth
(Brain teaser, closest to D&D you could get, with witty humor. The book series is just as fun to this day, too bad I can't get a version of this old game to play on windows 10)
2. Command and Conquer: Red Alert
(the classic RTS)
3. Myst
(first game with incredible graphics, first game to make me feel so immersed I was actually lonely)
4. The Legend of Zelda
(the original)
5. The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
(so many hours played)
6. Grand Theft: Liberty City
(80's music, open world, property purchases, this game was awesome at the time)
7. Assassin's Creed Black Flag, followed closely by Rogue (I've liked several in the series, but Black Flag and Rogue are my two favorite with their introduction of ship combat and craft-able upgrades. Didn't like the HQ idea as much in Rogue.)
8. Skyrim
(Buggy as all heck, but what a story and world! And the hero can actually win at the end, unlike some other Bethesda games where your only choices are kill your friend or kill yourself...)
9. Witcher 3
(Definitely in my top 10 for stories, especially given the character portrayal and DLC's. I played the Witcher's 1 and 2 also, and think they did a great job of taking the good, leaving the bad, and making things better in the 3rd installment. Also read the books back in the day. Yes, that's my thumbing my nose at all the new people who jumped on the bandwagon with the tv show, but really I'm just teasing and happy to share the addiction. The books are always better, read the books people!)
10. Sid Meyer's Civilization II or III (I loved these civilization games, not a big of a fan of where they took the series with the battle royale mode, but months of replay value)
I've been playing video games and programming them since I was 5 and the atari was still new, so it is hard to choose a top 10, but those are the ones that left a large enough mark to be added to the list at the moment. Cheers!
