Everything is fine

The important thing is they got all those celebrities, YouTubers and Twitch influencers in the game.
That is a bit concerning. Too much focus on famous people.

As long as the story is solid and the gameplay is excellent - I couldn't care less if there were zero celebs. Celebs are fine, but definitely not my focus. At all.

Not at all that my interpretation is the only valid one but I always saw the cyberpunk genre as the just deserts of a society that worshiped money and fame, in other words hell. I was hoping that this game would be for the most part a middle finger to such a society but based on most of what I've seen so far, the game should be called Corporatepunk 20XX.

I do recognize however that you can't give the middle finger to something that doesn't exist and so now my hopes rest on the ability to donate hot lead to all the celebrities, youtubers and twitch mascots.

I think CP is / was giving the middle finger to the establishment . There has always been famous people in the lore , like Rockerboys and Girls , Solos .

I understand being upset the game got delayed but dont understand why people would make a fake twitter account trying to impersonate cdpr and put fake announcement of basically an indefinite delay. that's just childish and stupid

Whenever the game launches you can be damn sure I will be there to review bomb it.

I get that, I'm saying that I was hoping the marketing and overall tone of the game would be more punk and less corporate. Its not my intention to bag on anyone here its just that I'm beyond tired of celebrities, YouTuber's, Twitch personalities, product partnerships and so on. The mere concept of "influencers" makes me hurl. Seems like all that money would of been much better spent on adding things to the game. Maybe that's just me though.

Have you seen the thread about Life Paths ? Most of the votes were for the Corpo LP

Over all i don`t give a shit about " celebrities, YouTuber's, Twitch personalities " but you are absolutely right it has gotten way out of hand

I wish CDPR had stayed true to the vision represented in the first teaser trailer back in 2013. It was much MORE gritty, like Blade Runner, Terminator or Deus Ex. The actual game feels tonally very similar to games like Far Cry, GTA or Watch Dogs 2, i.e. very colorful and bright.

I think they had to do it. Dark sci-fi is hard to sell in game industry. Sci-fi itself is quite popular at least its becoming slowly, games like Star Citizen, Half Lfe 3, Warframe and Starfield sure help, but dark sci-fi not so much. Matrix Online was a flop, Deus Ex didnt get much love from devs etc. Closer they get to GTA series, the better its for them, imho.

Yeah, I wouldnt mind if CDPR did some Dark Vampire RPG but doubt its good idea to invest so much as they did for Cyberpunk.

I don't think it became less gritty in comparison to the first teaser, but it has way more bling and gangbanger stuff now, plus daylight sunny scenes. And they seems to skew the mood a bit. Though night stuff didn't go anywhere. Now, Blade Runner 2049 felt a lot more restrained and monochromatic in comparison, but the first teaser didn't look like that. Original Blade Runner is REALLY colorful, full of all kinds of neon lights, so I don't get this argument.

I also believe that promos give an impression the game is more wacky, like GTA or Saints Row, than it actually is. If you look closer, despite all the color and bling, it's pretty serious.

Calling Terminator gritty is hilarious.

The tone so far seems to be somewhat on level with Deus Ex - there are some dark implications for the things happening, but the main character takes it mostly in stride and does not get in the way of the videogame part of things.

The latest gameplay footage shows someone getting strapped to a chair and braindanced against their will. It also mentions "braindanced sex zombies" which is a pretty dark concept of where people can end up if they can get VR porn fed into their brain 24/7.

GTA and Saint Row sounds damn good to me. Especially now Saint Row seems so forgotten even it made it to fourth sequel. We all know GTA6 is gonna be insanely popular.

Let us hope that is the case.

Wat is dark Sc-fi? Don't know any games that was called dark sc-fi or considered dark sc-fi.

It's hard to judge the game's dark themes from what we got so far.

The latest gameplay trailer did help things, but I have a feeling it will not be until we get our hands on the game that we will actually see how dark it really is. CDPR did say the it is very dark, and they have yet to let me down when it comes to their games. The way the color used and the poppy/edgy marketing makes it look, I can see why some are worried, but as they have said. To show how dark this game really is would most likely spoil a lot of things.

Just trust CDPR, when it comes to dark themes they have proven they can do it. Plus Mike Pondsmith did sign off on it, so I'm not worried in the least.

Deus Ex was at least called Dystopian Future. Im pretty sure Matrix Online is something like that too. Dystopia itself is dark-concept. I think its mistake to follow Deus Ex with Cyberpunk. Sales just arent there for big investment. Not to mention the series didnt get much love from the devs. Prey series is somekind of horror stuff, but it didnt go well either.

I think lots of people are gonna be upset, this isnt as dark as they hope, but what can you do if game industry isnt ready for it.
