Employees and developers are speaking out...

I just imagine that I had been working for years on a project like this. That I saw mismanagement in terms of unrealistic deadlines, and big deals with large corporations like Sony and Microsoft when I knew there would be major problems delivering for those systems. Deals that went ahead anyway because of money. I imagine I wqs involved in months of overtime to make this all happen. All the while knowing the game wasn't ready.

I would be livid. You could see how it might hurt morale with their frontline staff. And although management has seemingly painted themselves into an untenable corner, I'm actually pretty glad they're allowing the devs to air their concerns and vent their frustrstions, and glad their structure allows for it.

Thats all meaningless unless they listen hard and well to their staff and learn the lessons that are there to learn.

Hard and fast rule that a publicly traded company has to keep the majority of their shareholders happy? Absolutely, else they don't stay in business for long. Now I'm sure the shareholders aren't totally happy, else the board wouldn't have needed an emergency session with the board when this all started.

However no one has been fired from the board yet, which means the concerns of the shareholders have been tamed by the Board of Directors for the most part.

And how do you do that with shareholders... money and the promise of money.

Remember we're consumers... we want a quality product, the higher the quality the better it is for us.

Shareholders want quality as so much as it promotes profitability. The moment that quality reduces profitability, the quality stops.. That's Adam Smith. (google who).

And the worst, the biggest cowardice of this gossip site to feed haters, is that they used alleged developers, exposing the category publicly ... this is absurd, which haters don't realize, because they are blinded by hatred and lack of reason. ..

"The game’s deadlines, set by the board of directors, were always unrealistic. It was clear to many of the developers that they needed more time."

But the thing is, they can't have infinite time. Game development only makes sense if it doesn't outlast the generational tech they are working with. Would you pay 60 euros for a PS3 game today? The game NEEDED to come out. What they should've done, was ditch the oldgen console release entirely. Because the PC version is "finished enough".

Would not surprise me if CDProjekt finishes up the console patches and vaporizes this IP altogether.

Again, that makes no sense. And since it has 0 chance of happening, I don't worry about it.

They need to do what they must to reinstitute the goodwill, and then think about bringing out a paid DLC to recuperate losses. Fans would pay.
Sure, CDPR will not have the saint's halo they used to have, but that was unrealistic to begin with.

See that's the irony. I don't hate the game, I actually like it and think it has potential, if only management will allow the devs to do what needs to be done to improve the game to where it could be, not where I want it to be, but where it could be.

But after seeing all that mis-management that they've admitted to, publicly, not through rumors or anonymous sources, but management themselves, why is it so hard for you to believe this story is true.

Management themselves has admitted to almost the entire story publicly. The only difference here... devs are speaking out anonymously instead of publically, but mirroring what the management has already said.

Im not talking about you... but im talking about this pratice in this non prefessional press of expose people...

Schreier's a vulture and has an agenda, but he frequently has solid sources. And just about all the insider leaks he gets turn out to be true. I'm thinking back to one dev who said Cyberpunk needed 6 more months of development and there were many other devs who anonymously confirmed everything we're seeing now.

You know, and there should be recognition among us, the consumers that we support the developers.

There is far too much focus on I want this feature or that feature or CDPR is dead to me.

We should want to see things fixed, sure, and they will be. But we should want to see accountability from the management team.

A return to basics and first principles like When Its Done is a must. Gamers respect When Its Done because we've seen so many great games destroyed, and so few great games released successfully.

That's the thing. We're in an age where FIFA, Madden and CoD have yearly releases and sell as well as they do. I have no hope for learned lessons or improved products when they're rewarded for the opposite.

Their game is being refunded and was delisted from Sony, but let's be honest. They recouped their sunk profits and then some by just their preorders alone. Their stocks took a massive hit of around 30+%, but so what? They'll without a doubt bounce back and will be even higher.
All of those games are literally copy paste jobs though with some graphical improvements though.

What's more, in most jobs if you talk to your bosses like this, you will get fired. But now the DEV's hold all the cards because if they quit, management is fucked.

I kinda feel glad and bad at the same time. Feel glad that CDPR is getting wrecked due to their poor decision making and disregarding their consumers. Watch their stock heading straight for the sewers, real time nose dive.
But then, feel bad how the team who made the beloved Witcher series are getting dumped at the same time. It is truly a sad day when another company who were upheld by the gamers are about to join the next loser-crew. Blizzard greets you from the depth.

Well, im a PC user, no hard insues (and feelings) here and the game still in first on Steam...selling a lot. Tw3 too :)

I don't think many people blame the developers. Internally on the other hand they are usually the ones being blamed if something doesn't work as it should. Many people in the management have the mindset that if they can keep the deadline for the power point presentation about a product the devs creating the product should be also able to stick to the deadline.

I miss the times when gaming was much smaller and it was mostly gamers making stuff for other gamers. Now there's always the corporate element, and every time I dare look forward to something I end feeling like a kid whose sand castle was just urinated on.
At least the indie scene is better in this regard.

Good Morning,

Obviously, Cyberpunk 2077 had a ton of anticipation coming into its release, and while I’ve not played it myself, it would appear that perhaps for some, it hasn’t lived up completely to that anticipation. While many are enjoying the game, and it appears that there is a patch coming on 12/21/2020 that should hopefully help improve the game even further, we can certainly understand why some might be wanting to return the game, even after it is opened and played.

Normally, Best Buy is unable to offer returns of opened game software per our Return & Exchange Promise here. However, after some deliberation, and seeing that the vendor will be allowing returns through 12/21/2020, Best Buy will also be allowing returns for select opened Cyberpunk 2077 SKU’s through December 21, 2020. Beyond that date, we will return to our normal Return & Exchange Promise for the game. Here are the game SKU’s that will be returnable:

6255151 - Cyberpunk 2077 PS4
6255136 - Cyberpunk 2077 Xbox One
6352276 - Cyberpunk 2077 Collector’s Edition PS4
6352440 - Cyberpunk 2077 Collector’s Edition Xbox One
6414180 - Cyberpunk 2077 Xbox One Digital

You can bring your game to your local Best Buy store, or if you had your purchase shipped to your home, can return it via mail. If you need assistance obtaining a return label, please contact us at (888) 237-8289. Please also keep in mind that if you received the steelbook offer with the game, that will need to be returned as well, or the value of the steelbook will be deducted from your refund.

Thanks for being Best Buy customers!
