you could potentially find a way to stop the chip from killing V i mean the chip is damaged why not repair it? it doesnt seem like the most copmplicated thing io a world wherew such a chip is even possible to create
I mean you're given the whole schematics how to make the chip. Yet, no one can inject you with nanobots that stop the other nanobots from eating your brain and instead repair it with the aid of the chip. Why can't the nanobots repair my brain the way they just messed it up. Why can't the chip become the other half of my missing brain?

Does really Johny Silverhand dies in the ending when the chip is removed in the space station or he is still there?
 
Well...V was killed by Dex, so we are on a borrowed time from the get go. On the other hand, relic was able to restore damage done by the bullet, and rewrite neural system so it wouldn't be to much of a stretch if there was a tech capable of keeping V alive. Either after Alt killed him, or before. All is in writers hands now.

The chip is not damaged, it did exactly what it was supposed to do. It's explained in the story, that this special prototype, which was Saburo's secret project, is meant to be plugged into a neurally inactive, e.g. brain wiped body. Meaning you want to plug it into a body that had Soulkiller used on it.

However, V was never brain wiped, but flatlined from the gun shot to the head. But that was enough to trigger the chip's functions, which had the nice side effect of initially saving your life.

Unfortunately this is not where it stops....
 
They (Misty) literally tell you in the beginning that you are a fool... let that sink.

I can't come up with any RPG where these so called choices have any real branching effect on the story whatsoever. Because of time/money constraints. You have one main storyline and certain decisions affect certain characters and that's all. Everything else is bs.

The Witcher is set in an unforgiving and inarguably vastly more cruel world because it brings in the element of fantasy and uncaring gods. Geralt gets a 'happy' ending by the end of Witcher 3, of varying degrees, and the Blood and Wine expansion has him finally retire to a life of normality because - quite frankly given everything he lost, and all his hardships, he deserved it, despite that his life was literally filled with the worst possibilities that could happen.

He dies at the end of the last book that took precedence before the first Witcher game, and is brought back only by chance.

I don't see that as 'sugar coating' or bad writing, but not everything has to be doom and gloom -- I find that people who desire doom and gloom and unrepentant endings are individuals that don't lead very happy lives and want to drag others down with them into that lonely pit. The vast majority of people who play games and watch movies do it in order to escape reality—not to experience what they already get in life. It's an escape and a hobby, playing a game or watching a movie that is designed to be a Tragedy is often frequented with the associated labels and those who watch it go into it by their own volition, and quite frankly.. 2020 has not been a good year, for any one, really. Going 'Against the Grain' doesn't necessarily make a person unique, but makes them undesirable and hard to be around because it's an unwanted and undesired quality.

Cyberpunk was advertised as a game where you choices would ultimately matter - where you could explore the portents of Cyberspace, the consequences of moral dilemma and experience the worst or the best a setting like Cyberpunk could offer.

You explore the troubling, philosophical question - of what makes a person.. a person; when you get hit by Soulkiller in Mikoshi, you don't even notice that you're an Engram until AFTER Johnny tells you. So that leads you to question... what makes a person, a person? Are you really dead.. because you're operating just like you were before Alt hit you with Soulkiller. Is a person a soul or simply the Gray Matter in ones head? That is the message the majority of endings to the game convey, the philosophical question of what makes a man - or a woman - who they are.

As far as I can see, all of the endings have a hook for continuity with V - a sequel or expansion - because you have 6 months left to live, and personally.. even though I got hit by Soulkiller it is intentionally written that you go on as you normally would and only find out later through Johnny telling you. So there you're like, "wait, I'm an Engram? But it isn't any different".. and quite literally. You're still operating in the faculties of you, V, through the neural pathways laced within that gelatinous matter sealed behind a membrane with cerebral implants that allow data shards to be ported directly into your skull.

You're still V, Engram or not -- because those who take the Soulkiller aspect as a literal 'killer of souls' are largely missing the point. Are you a soul? Because I sure as hell am still V after getting hit by Soulkiller, I didn't notice a difference.

I'm telling you now, the Secret Ending was designed to be a hint as to the expansion's plot through Mr Blue Eyes, who bares striking similarity to the agent known as 'A', who is working for the NUSA. Read into the NUSA to know and understand why they're the people that can save V, not Arasaka.
 
Well i just finished all the ending.

I think that this game is all about the journey and not much about V's achievement. In the end we all die one way or another be it in 6 months or 50 years, death is inevitable. Even if you could save V in his body in any ending, he would still die at one point like every other living person... unless you decide to end in 0s and 1s.

That said i think that each ending represents what counts the most for each player's V. Keeping your soul ? Enjoy your loved ones ? Protect your loved ones ? Be the ultimate famous person in NC history ? Become kind of immortal ?

In my case, Arasaka coming back to earth was my first ending led by my natural choices so i consider it my "canon" ending based on my choices live. Even tho i'm kind of confused about the end credits messages of this ending and how V remove the necklace.

Btw, do you understand the true meaning of the bullet necklace ? Because i feel like there is something about V's soul tied to this object.
I think that the saddest ending is the one ending in the prison of souls where V looks deep in your eyes while firmly holding the necklace when she gets wiped.

Too add to your witcher paragraph. Even the Witcher had unicorns and a rainbow+fairytales level lol.
 
So I got to the end and boy I am truly sad to see these garbage endings.

But first things first. My playthrough was as a woman and I emphasized with Johnny every chance I got. That left me with 60% approval, because obviously Johnny can only be "bromanced" otherwise he just thinks you are a suck up. So that left the first sour note in my mouth.
So I allowed Johnny to go in and was shocked by how bad the revelation was delivered, that V has only 6 months to live. This should be the peak moment, but it was a bleak scene in a bleak cyberspace. So I allowed Johnny to take V and then came perhaps the most menaningless ending in a computer RPG I ever encountered and I am playing these since Ultima 6.
I am forced to have a conversation with some random kid I totally not care one bit about his guitar teachings. Wait what? Then Johnny just sits on the bus and leaves Night City.
Credits roll und ALL my friends write to me, that I don't answer my phone. The f* what? You tell me that Johnny - who was there along the ride always - witnessed the story of Judy and my romance with her and he wouldn't even have the decency to just call her and tell her what transpired? To at least give V the props before her friends and lover who just went through hell these past few weeks? Now Judy will think V is alive but just ghosted her and everyone else.
He wouldn't even tell Kerry, just burn all bridges and let V be remembered as some false friend who just ghosted everyone. WHAT? We talked about becoming a legend all the time, but when V dies a heroic death to let him live out HER live. He just decides, that is somethingnot even Vs lover has not the right to know.
Yeah, thanks a lot Johnny. You just are one stupid a*hole talking about morales and decency while having absolutely none of that. I died a hero and nobody ever knew, because the guy that was all about being a legend decides that it is more convenient for him if V doesn't become one.

Second try I go with Panem. I like Panem, but I always hated her ""family" the avocados. Wanted to talk her out of remaining with them, but couldn't because this is no RPG at all. I thought the decision while holding the pills is just who will help me to reach Mikoshi. I felt the avocados are expendable and enough to make a good distraction.
There was NO HINT AT ALL that this is also the decision how I want to spend the rest of my days. It shouldn't be. Just beacause I go in with Johnny, doesn't mean I want to become a legend. And going in with Panem sure as hell doesn't mean I want to become trailer trash and part of a family with the emotional maturity of a bunch of 7 years old. The constant bickering of these fools was unbearable, but the game just shoves this family as something other than a nightmare down my throat: I hated them, every last one of them. I would rather be stuck in Cyberhell for eternity, than to spend one day at their trailer park trash camp.
And after coming back at V I finally get a scene with Judy. Great. Or that I thought because I couldn't even tell her the truth, after all she is been through. Lame romance, lame scene, lame talk, din't touch me at all.

I am a runner who fucking loves the city. I. LOVE. NIGHT. CITY.
I love style. I hate people in their underwear holding a beer while wearing flip flops. Thats why I bought a game called CYBERPUNK.

I don't know why the story tries so hard for us to prefer living with emotional childs on trash heaps in the badlands, then to enjoy snytheic clothes, stlye over substance and chrome and latex in the city?
I date a Night City cop and think he is really cool. Then this cool cop decides to move to the trailer park and become trailer trash. WTF?
Then I date a cool netrunner who produces porn braindances. Cool. Yeah, then she just wants to leave everything and live like a farmgirl. WTF?
Then I help my girl Panem and try to talk her into leaving her kindergarten family and join me in Night City, but no can do.

I played this game to live out my shadowrun fantasy of chrome and synthetic leather. I wanted to live in high style, having visible cyberware and wearing only the coolest clothes. Instead I get bullied into this campfire atmosphere of people living in absoluty dirt and behaving like abused children, always good for a cry.

This CYBERPUNK feeling was very strong hearing the absolute cool combat music while slicing through corporate punks with my Katana. But none of the endings have any of this 'cool to the core' vibe the game itsself has, when you are not in these goddamn badlands.

This game has absolute zero replayability at this point. This nihilistic storytelling is BS and I say that as someone who leads a shadowrun pen & paper campaign now for 21 years in succession with characters who have become goods through more than 10.000h playtime. Nobody wants to get another serving of nothingness. If that is all you have to share, then just don't.
It seemed to me you loved your own setting very much at first and hated it by the time you hammered together these excuses for endings.

This is in no way an RPG, as Assassins Creed has more important decisions. It feels like half of the content is missing. The "romances" are just a joke. They have absolutely zero impact after one short scene.

And to end this rant: I expected this game to be for adults, as was marketed, but it is very harmless and conventional and tries absolutely nothing new. I can not even get naked because ... yeah why?
You just reminded me, why the fuck is half the game about the badlands? Out of all the possible narratives to be explored in the world of Cyberpunk, the badlands were the one they found the most interesting? Why is the supposed "good ending" forcing me to go live with those hippies?
 
That clearly isn't what they said. They want a chance to survive. People do survive in this city, it's stupid to assume that they don't. Rogue, for instance, is literally a 70+ year old woman, who's at the top of the game after helping land a blow against an evil corp. The only reason she dies is that she came into contact with you.

If for some instance you don't like the idea that the underdog can actually 'survive', then why would you pick up this game? It's sold on the idea that you can survive and thrive, stick it to the man. That was its selling point. To become a legend, to be rich and get out of the slums.

Some of us want to achieve what we set out to do as in Act 1. Make it big, and live.
that sumerices it perfectly that is waht all grim and dark fictinal unverses are about to thrive agaisnt all odds. no matter if it is Warhammer 40k, cyberpunk or something else if everything is darkness the light shines even brighter. how hard is it to be a good person when everyone is nice? how hard is it to survive in an utopia? it isnt we want struggle but what is even more important the struggle have to get a conclusion it doesnt need to be a positive one it onyl needs to be satisfying. for an example i think the most enjoyable ending is probably to die gloriusly trying to defeat arasaka evnthough you die you die in glory you became a legend the person who quite defeated arasake alone. it also is satisfying to see if your charakter would loose everyone he loves to survive or like silverhand his original ending: he died and the world didnt change but he did a little bit tower still fell and arasaka was stopped for the moment. it wasnt a win but it did matter.

Regarding the necklace I can only speak for the Nomad ending, but in my understanding V is discarding his old life.

V came to NC to become a legend, very akin to young men getting lured in by the gold rush some centuries ago.
Seeking fame and wealth V made a lot of wrong decisions and in the end was shot by Dex.
From then on survival in NC was the ultimate goal.
Now, leaving NC for good, realizing there is more to a good life than fame and fortune (namely a place to belong to with the avocados/love interest)V discards the necklace, ready to begin a new chapter.

Then V dies in 6 months, because reasons.
 
Regarding the necklace I can only speak for the Nomad ending, but in my understanding V is discarding his old life.

But as a street kid you were born in NC and even left just come back since Atlanta isn't better. Abd V even says NC is like any other city, just bigger. He seems rather content what he had.
