Could cyberpunk be the game we've been dreaming of?

+
Yeah, that's true. That would cause a lot of CPU problems
That's why I was quoting minecraft. If you have already played minecraft with villagers, if you don't have too much, it's okay. But if you forgot to stop your auto-breeder, it's just Lag-Land (see unplayable). And yet minecraft is a pretty basic game with NPCs doing basic stuff :)

I wish all cyberpunk NPCs had routines, dialogs, and make their living (make it really realistic), but right now it's just a dream.

Ok, in Skyrim NPCs have basic routines, but there are few.
In Cyberpunk, NPCs disappear because without that no PC (even less consoles) could handle them. They're just there to give the illusion of a certain life in the city, but like any illusion, it works if you don't look too closely.

And if you add just one dialog line, they have to translate it in many language (too much work). It's just an insane amount of work to add at the insane amount of work they already did :)

Of course i don't ask for that feature to be implemented for every NPC.
A few dozend to a hundred NPCs troughout the city would be enough.
Making random strangers on the street comment on V's deeds or his/her outfit would also do a metric ton for atmosphere, emersion and the players sense for accomplishment.

Just that, it's a huge job :(
A line of dialogue need to be translated into English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Polish, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, Chinese (Simplified), Japanese (not to mention the subtitles). "Just" for a little more immersion, it seems difficult to me :(
(Sadly, because yes, I would like CDPR to add this)

Hello guys. Please don't be mad about my english. My english is bad ı'm learning english. Any way That's not the game we wanted. Can RPG mechanics I, AI and earth be improved? there was no mini,Ambulance(trauma team),police chase game in this game. NPC ai very bad. Elections are not enough. The city is great, the character skills are great. No TPS scenes in game
Short answer? No.

Long answer? No. We'd need a new game, a sequel, and we won't get it, wwhat with CDPR transferring the majority of the 2077 team to a different IP. We'll get some maintenance patches, maybe some cosmetic and/or small mission DLCs and that's it.

These are necessary for me to love CDPR as I used to, and see it as a friend. It should also have the mechanics of joining gangs. Like Skyrim.

I know it is a lot but it is not too much to ask.
in games like Skyrim the fans made huge mods (for example the "interesting NPCs mod") with literally hundreds of detailed NPCs who had backstory and voiced(!) dialogue. For free.
This Cyberpunk 2077 is supposed to be a AAA-game. If CDPR wants to win customers and players back they have to put in some serious work and "break their backs and crack their oars".

For me, with NPCs and dialogs in particular, they already did a great job. All the game is fully translate (except commercials). For me, a simple french gamer, accustomed to subtitled games or simply with quests in French (or nothing at all), it's already impress.
Frankly I would like CDPR to add that, but if you do the work time/gain ratio in the game, I'm afraid it's not worth it. Much less than adding DLCs for Judy / Panam / Kerry / River for example :)

In fact, with that you give the answer to the OP. This game can not be what we dreamed beacause CDPR is unable to made it. The next generation open world is a dead world where the only thing a player can do outside the quest is killing innocent passerby because... it is the only thing he can do.

No animation do eat or drink outside the quest, no car races outside the quests, no arcade games, no casino games...

Forget about a realistic subway or public transportation network, basic town gimmicks like firefighter or ambulance, realistic police, NPC that have a life (hell, I am bored to see the exact same faces doing the exact same thing each time I leave V appartement)...

CP2077 has actually dozens of non working perks, an athletic tree only usable by using glitches, a broken balance in economy and crafting and loads of food and drink giving exactly the same bonuses. And I don't talk about all the glitchs, bugs and other save corruption.

A great story? Lot of indies or JRPG make better stories. I just finished the Trails of Cold steel series and THIS is a hell of a LONG ride!

Great graphics? With the actual shortage of graphics cards, only a minority of players can see this graphics. I'll have to wait mid 2022 to have one. Probably. I hope.

I am french too. Yeah, I like the fact the game is totally translated. But it doesn't answer the story state at the release and the fact that Night City is beatiful but absolutely and totally dead!

So? Can this game become what we hoped for?

If we wanted a subpar game totally centred on localised quest on a big but empty map with no AI and not a single interaction outside of killing spree, yes, it will become this game once they finished releasing the patches.

If we wanted an AAA immersive game with roleplay elements, reputation mecanics and working AI, we will never have it.

it can't be what you hoped for. The type of things you are talking about fall into the category of a new/different game. The best chance there was for that game anytime soon(years) was cyberpunk online, but thats no longer a plan. Maybe the multiplayer content in the sequel

I found the game is great even there are a lot of bugs. I found the look of the character makes me stop and not able to fall into the game. There are a lot of clothings you can get in the game, but the clothing makes the characters looks very weird and stupid. It doesn't look as good as it is in the trail. Recommended to do it like the game Ghost Recon Breakpoint, you don't have to wear it on the character but you still can upgrade your armour. Another thing suggest is improve the look of the women in the game. it looks great in the trail, but the women in the game looks old.

Judging by the last patches - this game will be forgotten. I was one of the loud defenders in Dec but now the game is worse off than it was (for me) upon release. No dlc will be able to save this game. I hope of course for the opposite but reality is what i see on my screen when playing. They are not optimizing, they are downgrading. Glad i played through once but its time to move on....

I'd love to see that! I mean, I know it's 2077 and it's Night City, but a disco full of people at 10 a.m. ... Disturbing

It all depends on 1.3.
If 1.3 is real good, yes it will eventually.
If it sucks, well time to move on.

... game we wanted.
No, it's what you wanted. It can never be a game what "we" wanted because everyone wants something a little different. I for example don't wan't another GTA clone. However I did expect some original and unseen mechanics in the open world play-ability that could've put CDPR in it's own league (IDK.. more world destructibility, flipping cars, better physics and hacking sandbox aspects, more distinct vehicle types and missions).
