After all, who really is Judy Alvarez?

+
Very good. Resuming the game of Cyberpunk 2077 to enjoy the new patch 1.5. Well then. I'm not going to write about the patch. It is not my intention to address technical aspects, but to discuss curiosities beyond intriguing throughout the story. And I want to mention one specifically.
After all, who really is Judy Alvarez?
Along with Panam Palmer, she is one of the most beloved characters in the game. However, there are passages that draw attention and are intriguing.
I will quote them:
1) At one point, Judy tells V that she doesn't like people very much;
2) She works in the ND production business, many of which are NDs with death and pornography (it becomes very clear when V meets her introduced by Evelyn Parker);
3) She and V rescue Evelyn from the scavs;
4) The meeting of Maelstrom members with mysterious subjects (mission of the prophet) takes place behind the building where Judy lives;
5) And now the most intriguing: Judy's van appears parked in front of the entrance of the Maelstrom "base" that guarded the Ebunike ship that served as a hiding place for Adam Smasher! It's exactly the same! Identical. See the photos.
Now let's get to the speculations about some of the points listed:
1) Which gang really doesn't like people? Maelstrom. This is so true that they promote brutal and profound changes, disfiguring and denaturalizing the human being. Judy confessed to V that she doesn't like people very much.
2) There is a mission where V needs to rescue an NDX where father and son are being protected by Maelstrom. Who knows the most about NDs in Night City? Judy Alvarez.
3) The most common shootings in the north are between..., scavs and Maelstrom members! Evelyn is handed over to the scavs. And Judy joins V in the rescue.
4) Why in so many places in Night City there has to be a meeting between strangers with the Maelstrom people right behind the building where Judy lives? Strange.
5) And what is Judy's van doing at the Ebunike docks?
They could be mere coincidences or even CDPR errors. However, coincidences and/or errors accumulate.
The truth is Judy never really liked anyone. If you choose a female V and make a romance with her, after Mikoshi is destroyed and decides to stay in Night City she simply leaves you, putting her own interests above romance.
My thesis stands:
Who you think is the villain is not really the villain. And who you think is innocent is not such a good person.
Kerry said Night City is a city of shadows.
Does Judy have her shadow too?
This could be a subject for future expansion and it would be great for CDPR to develop these theories.

It doesn't start very well to speculate in my opinion :)
1) At one point, Judy tells V that she doesn't like people very much;
Hum... From my memories, she say that "she's not very gifted with people" when V suggest that she could take the lead of the Mox instead of Suzie Q (which doesn't mean the same thing at all).
2) She works in the ND production business, many of which are NDs with death and pornography
She's a Mox (nothing to do with Maelstromer nor any other gangs), she work in the Lizzie, which make and provide only porn BDs... Above all, Moxs are against any violence against sex workers.
5) And now the most intriguing: Judy's van appears parked in front of the entrance of the Maelstrom "base" that guarded the Ebunike ship that served as a hiding place for Adam Smasher! It's exactly the same! Identical. See the photos.
For the van, as far as I know, there is water near the Ebunike. And she return to Laguna Bend for the very first time with V during Pyramid Song, we can suppose that she simply go dive here :)

OK.
But what does a Mox van do on the Ebunike docks?
Well, there's no doubt in my mind: it's Judy's van.
And this is very strange!
As for the braindancing issue, it's true. She is a Mox.
And the question remains: it is right behind Judy's apartment that Maelstrom members meet strangers (prophet's quest).
Another coincidence?
The two coincidences bearing some relation to Maelstrom?
Hmm...
What Kerry said is lapidary: "Night City is a city of shadows".
Everyone has shadows. What is the "size" and "depth" of Judy's shadow?

Yes totally fortuitous. The meeting takes place in a deserted place, a container storage area... no one nearby.

For what I understand/know about Judy, her only shadows is her very, very sad past, that's all :)

Been awhile since i played tbh but i remember one thing and that was for some reason i couldn't shake the feeling that something felt "off" about judy, don't get me wrong i loved her character but i just could never shake the feeling something wasn't right.

Probably just my imagination, hoping there's more but knowing there aint

I think what started it was doing some early game gig to take a "boss" out in his club an he was into the braindance stuff, reading his computer is what probably sent me down holes that never existed :*)

Wouldn't know not been here in ages, but if you want to think "conspiracy" instead of "looking for more perhaps hidden content" then thats upto you.

No idea if you ever played games with branching dialogue/options? Pick this reply this opens an that closes sort of thing, when CP 2077 first came out thats what i personally thought was going to be happening hence why i got so many playthroughs picking different combinations of options or doing specific things before a certain event etc etc to see how/if dialogue or scenes would change hence me saying i sent myself down holes that never existed because i thought it was going to be more complex than it was.

I did it with ever main character and nearly every scenario tbh not just judy

Yet she likes to act on her own agenda - wherever Clouds or within Mox when she tries to bring some girls in and the Mox boss says no.

She is likely the only highly tech person in Mox so she could have other contacts based on her skills and reputation.

As for Maelstrom - making a theory - their highly digitalized heads could make them good proxies or easy to control (mind read, block memories/data from confidential meetings etc.) making them safe soldiers/drones for Blue Eyes people.

Yes she is, but as we can read on her computer in her apartment, she refuse all the offers that she can receive. Ones will be possibly very well paid and certainely "better" than spend time in a basement to make porn BDs :)
But at the end, she's an artist who dream about "better" world... (which is impossible...) and ideally, she only would like to make BDs for the art sake (porn BDs are simply to put food on her plate).
In short, the way that CDPR wrote her character, it's seem impossible to me that she have such a dark side (a little bit like River... they are simply good peoples, lost in a dark city... who dream that things can change one day)

True, they possibly are :)
It's maelstromers who work for the "unknow" guys during "Dream On" (Peralez quest).

Same with Garry quest.

It doesn't have to be dark. It could be something idyll, especially if she is only used as a sort of a tool to spread emotions, ideas and experiences via BD/art.

And she kind of experienced a lot of bad in the city so I doubt she is "normal" or "good" by nowadays standards. River isn't lawful either ;)

Fun fact: if you clip into/edit the Judy one and ride it Judy will send you a text message semi agry you took the car and not told her. It's some sort of leftover of cut/unfinished content.

Would be "mind blown" if same would happen with this one.

Hey,
Personally, I think that Judy's apartment being near the exchange point is just a coincidence - and a way CDPR utilized the city.
Also, Maelstrom's base is nearby, so that's probably that.

It's somehow hard to imagine what would be happening in the background if Judy was indeed a hiding manipulator or whatnot :)
Also, (in some of the endings) she leaves NC, so that wouldn't make sense at all.

This is like saying that anytime you see a black Hella that someone stole V's car. There's plenty of cars that are the same model and color. River's truck and the buyable Mackinaw(sp?) are almost identical. Does that mean i bought River's truck? He must've bought a new one the exact same then.

Just finish to watch a full playthrough (again) and thanks to @0248991, I just read the OP again too :)
And I just want to react to the "truth" about Judy :
The truth is Judy never really liked anyone. If you choose a female V and make a romance with her, after Mikoshi is destroyed and decides to stay in Night City she simply leaves you, putting her own interests above romance.
Honestly, I wonder if you ever played as female V, romanced Judy and played the "Suicide/Give Up" ending.
Because for someone who don't care about V and put his own interests above romance, Judy seem to be "a little bit" affected by V's death :D

Just as a reminder for those who didn't see it :)
warning ! it's heartbreaking and at the right time !

She no really, much like V she got problems that much is clear but hers typically stem from caring, it why she does what she does, she simply cares and when you care, shit happening to all those you care about takes it's toll as is portrayed by the VA probably the best in the game.

I honestly wouldn't call the traumatic events she witnessed happen to her friend, ones she experienced creating BD's to help V, being a Debbie Downer, im actually surprised at how well she pulls herself together afterwards mentally.

I think it was David Gaider, lead writer on Dragon Age games, that made me no trust characters, to always dig thinking there something more here, but with Judy it simply not there, she is who she is, you like or don't, no harm in either tbh, no need to apply names either

Personally, I think that all of the characters - Judy included - are portrayed very well; and that is the reason to name them.

Judy went through a lot, through many places, made BDs, lives alone, her home city got flooded, her close friend died recently, she broke up with Maiko,...yet she still managed to join the Mox with the hope to change things for the better, helps V,...and above all else - she stays very positive and supportive.

What impressed me a lot is that she didn't shoot V as soon as he/she returns from the heist, that she thinks about Evelyn and tries to move on, etc...
It seems to me that she can think both rationally and emotionally, and very quickly as well.

I was thinking that the four romance options might represent the four types of personalities, something like:
- Kerry is a spontaneous introvert
- Judy is a stable extrovert
- River is a stable introvert
- Panam is a spontaneous extrovert
But whatever :)

As @LeKill3rFou i think all that is fortuite but.....

I F%@#§! realy like this "judy's conspiracy theorie" ! Some know now that i don't care/like so much Judy as a character ( maybe i feel like e rebel because "everyone" loves judy...) and, may be, i find this hilarious because of that!

Thank for shering ! You would make a great Cop detective ! XD
