Meh. Not a huge fan of steampunk - lacks chrome and sleekness. Slickness? Whatever. Also rockerboys. Goggles I can have built in.

That said, Warren Ellis did a pretty cool steampunk-ish graphic novel.

I like the idea of Steampunk. I like the idea of re-imagining the technology available in the day being re-tasked in ways that weren't apparent to the people of the age.

Not sure if I'm onboard with what Steampunk has become, though. It's like all the Victorian Goths up and decided to change all the black bits of their wardrobe to brown.

I like the idea of gears and class/style. Steampunk is, to me, an Arcanum-esque violin quartet playing while absurdly well-dressed people try to use technology to prop themselves up and look more important than they are. Lots of dirt, lots of parasols.

And again, goggles. Can't forget the goggles.

Steampunk is, of course, it's own genre, but I'd think it would be counted as a subset of science fiction.

I figured it was more fantasy based, seeing as there is often a magical element. I know that there is a lot of science too, but thats my opinion.

And Dieselpunk ftw:
