Future fake Ads in game.

+
I wouldn't mind 'occasional' specialised advertising, like the way it was done in mass Effect 2. If I had adverts shouting my name at me every 2 seconds I would probably kill someone for real.

I liked how ads were handled in Mass Effect 1 and 2.. Also, elevator dialogues were hilarious in ME1.. Something similar would suit CP77 well..

As for the tentacle porn ads... No thanks...

Oh come on! Those are the best kind of adds.. :D

I just can imagine a giant holographic tentacle porn ad..

Two girls walk in *random Japanese words* one of the girls leave, *a giant tentacle monster appears* girl looks at it *a very anime style scream* and starts to run away, tentacle monster leaves disappointed because he only wanted to ask for directions, he wont be chasing her, because he is too old for this shit.. :D

Just no.. Please not..

I am looking forward to the thought that will be put into putting all the finishing touches on the game, including the advertising. I think it's a great opportunity to put some depth into the setting, as well as possibly being part of the story.

Having said that, I also think that real-life advertising in the mmo (keeping in mind it has to be themed towards the setting) could also be a good revenue stream for the developers and help prop the game up if subscriptions / player interests wane.

Actually...the more I think about it, the more I like it. You could sell advertising in-game based on a period of time, like a billboard, so it changes frequently. I know people are gonna have pushback on this, but I think it would be tons more realistic. We all have ads we enjoy watching, wether we intend to purchase / use the products being featured - and we all have ads we hate cuz they are so bloody annoying. All I can think of is the movie Bladerunner, when Dekker is being brought into the police station for the "you're not cop, you're little people" speech - and his aerodyne car flies past the giant ad of a woman pitching the virtues of the off-world colonies. I can imagine in game... hiding behind some wreck of a car, being shot at by some psycho chrome gang, and I hear the annoying neon hum of a sign that says "Schlitz beer" or something like that.

I just think it'd be cool... IMO of course.

THIS GAME IS NOT AN MMO, READ THE FUCKING POSTS..

People like you fill me with rage.. DRAGON! HELP ME!

Is the game not going to be multiplayer? It may not be MMO in the traditional way... but still with lots of players on all at the same time populating the same world... sounds like MMO to me - wether you call it that or not is your issue.

And if you're "being filled with rage" over something so trivial, you have some issues that need to be addressed - I urge you to seek professional help.

Thats the thing, game will not have that type of multiplayer.. (It "may" have "some" multiplayer elements and even that is not a sure thing, like co-op with one or two people, CDPR do not make multiplayer games) There is no "lots of players populating same world", it is a strictly single player story game.. You would know that if you have bothered to FUCKING READ!

NOTE:Cyberpunk 2077 is NOT an MMO. In any way or kind. Repeat, NOT an MMO. Nothing wrong with MMOs, but this game is not going to be one.

Nobody complaining about the "real-life advertising"? Serously? No fucking way! Corporatizing a game called Cyberpunk! That would be the lowest!

'K everyone, chill out.
@robotzh8teme - the game will be a single-player, story-driven RPG with multiplayer features. Not an MMO, conventional or otherwise. And it's pretty well guaranteed that the stand-alone game won't require online access, as that goes against everything CDPR stand for.

It may be worth looking at some of the stickied threads to get an idea of what information we have on the game, and what kind of games CDPR make.

I really like that.. All ads should be animated, some should be holographic (only the corp zone ones), some should be even voiced.. But i also feel they should have that weirdness quality to them.. Being common and sometimes annoying for some people, some companies would like to attract attention to their products and be funny about it, right?

I imagine something like these: (By the way, what I'm suggesting is for style only, not the ads themselves, also, imagine these as animated, holographic and voiced)

I'm just saying, these ads could be a good inspiration..

Also, QR codes, thsi is an amazing technology that could well have a similar utility in 2077. Perhaps using some fictional graphic code system?
...actually, I think it'd be neat if there were *real* QR codes in-game, that you could scan in-game, and be taken to an in-game site, or scanned with your phone, and taken to a real-world site. =D

NO NO NO to real ads in games. That was something I thought I made clear in this suggestion. Real ads SUCK and distract from the game. I do NOT want to see advertising for coke, Pepsi, or anything else in the real world. I want ads for cyber gear, the latest in VR games, advertising for the latest in game shows and events, I want news reporting on what is happening in the world. I do not want anything from our world poking its head into it. I want the ads like a lot of suggestions in this thread, but NO to real world ads.

Calm down AZ, you need to relax... I saw an add for some stuff that would help you out ... ooh, maybe they should put that in the game...

I have stated before that I am all for interactive adverts in 2077 that adapt to specific peoples critera. This would probably be based on facial recogniton and/or SIN detection or some other system.

Mass Effect 2 was on the right track. We are starting to move in that direction in real life. here are some examples:

And, wouldn't it be cool to occasionally see some hackers messing with video walls and such to scare people?
