Can't Change My Texture Quality in Options

i try and increase the texture quality in my in game options but it doesnt work instead its got some weird text, not like 'high' quality or what you would expect it to say. what do i do to change this? ive tried uninstalling and it is still the same, and ive patched the witcher with the most recent patch. Ive tired the 'Run RegEdit, and changing the Texture Quality to 2', still no luck just changes it back to 0. When i first got the game i was running Windows XP and it was fine, its since ive gone to Vista. Please let me know if it can be solved. Also i cant increase the screen resolution to what it should be the max i can put it is 1440 x 900, but my monitor goes to 1680 x 1050, and im pretty sure the witcher used to awell. if that could be answered aswell i would greatly appreciate it.

read the FAQ: http://www.thewitcher.com/forum/index.php?topic=17503.0 and apply the Vista tips ( run as Admin/Compat/UAC )i can't see what DirectX version you have, but be sure to install the latest one from November 2008: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=886acb56-c91a-4a8e-8bb8-9f20f1244a8e&DisplayLang=en

I checked that link out you kindly gave me, but i couldnt find any information on it to help with this problem ive got, is this a widely know issue, and is it related to the '-dontForceMinReqs' fix to bypass the system check when loading up the game? i really want to play the game again, but i just cant enjoy the game on low texture quality. feed back is greatly appreciated... thanks
