Any VTM: B Fans here?

After feeling very nostalgic I talked to a alright guy about Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines for the PC (that's based off of a equally good PnP, in my opinion), which got me thinking how many others here knows that game.. So, I hope you don't mind me asking these questions.. But what was your favorite Clan (and why), Faction, play-style and Humanity level?

Cause I was always really fond of the Toreador because the fact that they are the most adaptable, beautiful, persuasive, vain and of course humane (even though they can be quite nasty, when they want to be). And I of course sided with no one cause LaCroix was a douche who used people to get what he wanted (like how he used me to run his dirty errands all over Santa Monica, that he thought I wouldn't be able to complete), I definitely didn't like the Eastern Vampires from Asia cause they were disrespectful and I kind of like the Anarchs because of their ideals of freedom, individualism and etc.. However, I felt I was their little "Errand Boy" as well, so I in the end blew up LeCroix, flicked off Nines and left a free and independent Kindred.

And I mostly play the game with high seduction, persuasion, stealth, firearms and of course celerity (I love moving around in slow-mo like something off of the Matrix, while shooting at enemies). Also, I have a full bar of Humanity (just cause I'm a creature of the night doesn't mean I have to be all that bad, right?). Well, that describes my personal experience abit with VTM: B anyways.

I really need to get around to playing this game. I know @Sardukhar is a big fan.

You should, its really good. It has in-depth story, diverse environments, multiple quests, many ways of solving quests, wonderful (even sometimes funny) dialogue and etc. I recommend trying the game's story out normally (with patches, so you may play a mostly smooth experience, one of the only issues the game faced was glitches), but after your done then try it again with mods of your choice (Clan Quest Mod, Final Nights Mod and Companion Mod is the s***).

VtM:B is very much a diamond in the rough, but count me among one of its many late fans accumulated years after Troika was dissolved. It helped in defining what a 3D third-person/first-person Action-RPG could do in the post-Ultima Underworld/post-Deus Ex world of gaming. Is it perfect? Hell no. But it's got some great writing and replayability if you can stomach the crassness of the setting. You can play at LEAST 3 times with a wildly different experience just on the merit of changing the clan of the player character (most vampires play the game straight, Nosferatu are pretty much required to be stealthy sewer-lovers, and Malkavians have pretty much every dialogue altered and are pretty much like playing Fallout 1 or 2 with High Luck or Low Intelligence where silly and weird things happen all around you. It's amazingly good design. I recommend anyone try it with the popular mods & community patches available.

Other games say this, but for VTMB, the gameplay really is quite different.

Nosferatu, for example, can't be seen outside by anyone not a Vampire. At all. Or it's an immediate Masquerade violation, cops, hunters, etc. So you have to spend your game sneaking around, popping up from sewers, creeping into the back doors of places, always feeling an outsider.

Tremere are the magic users and you rarely bother sneaking, preferring to Dominate people into doing what you want, in and out of conversations, and making their blood boil until they die in combat.

The Malkavian..well, that playthrough is going to be quite unusual in any game, as you see things and hear things that aren't there and you have an uncanny ability to see the truth in others. Probably the first RPG role I played where you could see the end of the game where other classes couldn't. This lets you skip a lot of chit-chat and even freak some people out. Quite fun. It's not really like playing Fallout - it's stranger than that, since you're insane.

Brujah will choose to Intimidate people into doing what they want - and smashthem through a wall at super speed if they don't cooperate. Not subtle at all, but satisfying.

And there are more still.

No.It sucked.

It played way too much like the fantasy of a goth or punk in high school (complete with references to anarchy and communism, I was surprised they weren't going to bring up groups like Anti-Flag).

I picked the noble class, it was 7-8 years ago I played the game, and I did so only once. I largely just beat up people to get my way, but I put some points in dominate and lockpicking as well.

I used the fisticuff spell a lot and maxed out firearms. No swords or anything and I very rarely used spells except to brawl (didn't put more then one point in brawl). The flamethrower was way OPed.

In an RPG, I can forgive anything except long animations or crappy setting/story.

Malkavians are magical. Best second playthrough of any game ever. Little touches like bringing up V.V.'s old name make it so good. I only wish they had managed to make Arcanum 2, because they were planning on using the Source engine for that one and it likely would have ended up being a lot like a steampunk version of VTM:B.

Poet's MY mortal enemy. I already called dibs. Find your own villain, newbie.

I agree, Malkavians are awesome. And I'm sorry, but I'm afraid its to late (he's already stalked out one of my posts, so I guess we'll have to share). xD

I played the game many years ago, and I really liked it. A very good game. I never finished it though... Not that that is unusual for me, that tends to happend no matter how good a game is. :p

They are porting this game to the unity at the moment, it is called the project vaulderie, it will be remastered and will use new tech like dx11 and stuff..

Check it out: http://www.projectvaulderie.com/
I always love these kinds of projects. They feel like a form of preservation of old games with new features to help them age better. Sure, it takes a long time for them to ever really get finished, but by the time they are finished the game would have probably ended up unplayable without them. Take the XLEngine project for example, a project that's yet to be completed after several years, but is making progress at helping to preserve the playability of Outlaws, Star Wars: Dark Forces, and Elder Scrolls: Daggerfall for the future. Of course, in Vampire: Bloodlines case, this would also be another great opportunity to fix yet more of the flawed aspects of the game in the transition.

tl;dr: Goodnight, Sweet Project Vaulderie (CCP are a bunch of dicks)

Fellow Kine and Kindreds,

As of now, you may be wondering why we haven’t been sharing any updates on the behalf of the project as of late. We are aware that all of you wait patiently for our news as always.

We’re very sad to report that we received a Cease & Desist e-mail from CCP Games, asking us to cease game development, remove any materials that might contain Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines, names, locations or related elements from the sites we control, and cease any further use of Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines property, and in a disappointment shared among our team we are complying with that request. All of this invalidates our effort and the meaning of the entire project: as a remake of Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines cannot be a remake without its original contents.

Over the course, you have fought with us and been patient. You have trusted us when we were silent and listened when we spoke. Many of you have done what you could to help us. And for that we would like to thank you. You’re a wonderful group of fans and have been very supportive. It goes without saying that your interest was far greater than our team would have even anticipated.
We have been deeply honored by the support we have received from you all and we believe that the best relationship we can have with you is that of honesty and transparency.

Along with your support, we’ve received a lot of sympathies from former developers on Bloodlines and former White Wolf employees along the way. Our contact told us that the copyrights were with Activision, Inc., so we pursued there instead, with a pitch being prepared for the company to discuss what we were going to do with the property. This contact we knew from CCP has since left the company.

We made it quite clear that this is a fan re-imagining of the game. We simply want to do this to keep the game, the story, and the world it lives in, alive and re-imagined for a new generation. Both the game and the idea behind the project was made sorely with out of passion.

Since support of the game dropped long ago, ever since the fall of Troika Games, Inc., and it’s almost impossible to play without patches or bug fixes, sponsored by the community, and there is so much left that could be finished that hasn’t been touched. We want to see this game thrive, in a time and industry where games with deep lore and storylines like Bloodlines simply are hard to come by. Project Vaulderie would help revive interest in a game that was forgotten with time, and I believe all parties could have benefit from its creation.

But that will not be the case anymore, and it’s clear that there won’t be any newer titles created under the Vampire the Masquerade brand, as this project was the only hope for Bloodlines to reborn from the ashes they were left to cease.

We are avidly seeking a resolute course to continue working on a future game, but we cannot at this time discuss this publicly and with that I urge you to please be patient and hopeful that we will find a way.

I hope you understand, and as always we appreciate your support (in the distant future).

Below you can find the cease and desist letter:

Dear Project Vaulderie:

We are writing to you on behalf of CCP hf. (“CCP ”), a company incorporated in Iceland and the exclusive trademark and copyrights holder for Vampire: The Masquerade (USPTO registration no. 3495901; USCO registration no. TX0005782175, et. seq., for the same line of books).

Recently, it has come to our attention through your website, http://www.projectvaulderie.com/, that you are planning a modification or “re-imagination” of the Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines game, first published a number of years ago by Activision, Inc., under license from White Wolf, Inc. (now known as CCP). While Activision retains certain rights to the game it created, CCP continues to own all other rights associated with Vampire: The Masquerade, including the copyrights and trademarks noted above.

It appears that Project Vaulderie is now engaging in the unauthorized creation, use, and sale of products bearing the name of CCP’s registered intellectual property, Vampire: The Masquerade, without any license, authorization or permission of CCP.

You do not have permission to use CCP’s trademarks, copyrights, or other intellectual property as the basis for your products and services, nor do you have permission to make or distribute any copy or derivative work, including electronic copies, of CCP’s intellectual property. As a result, we believe you are infringing CCP’s intellectual property rights.
We ask that you immediately cease and desist from the use of CCP’s name and other trademarks on http://www.projectvaulderie.com/. Specifically, please remove all references to Vampire: The Masquerade and Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines from your website, software, and related materials. In addition, remove all artwork from the original Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines game from your website and software modifications, and discontinue any future use of such artwork. If we do not receive an immediate affirmative response from you indicating that you have fully complied with these requirements, we may be forced to take further legal action against you, including but not limited to a DMCA notice to your Internet Service Provider. Thank you, in advance, for your cooperation.

Sincerely,
CCP Legal
