I canceled my order because i 'm not so sure i won't have troubles. Please, can you help me? Although my English are good enough to understand anything, i 'm not sure what they want me to do. :wall: Please, don't hesitate to explain as if i was 6 years old, i need it! ;DCustomers outside the UK, please note:We will only accept cheques and postal orders that are: * Denominated in pounds sterling * Drawn on a UK bank * Preprinted with your bank's six-figure sort code
Basically, unless you have an account with a UK bank, they don't want your money. I don't see a general way around that, but I'll PM you.Cassandra31EEE said:I went to the uk. amazon yesterday, to order a copy of The Last Wish. Since i don't own a credit card, i found out with relief that i could pay with a cheque or a postal order. I made my order, and then i noticed this line:I canceled my order because i 'm not so sure i won't have troubles. Please, can you help me? As i feared so....Basically, unless you have an account with a UK bank, they don't want your money.
Did i mentioned that you 're an angel?but I'll PM you.
I know! ;DHe is, but don't spread it around -- you'll ruin his image.
Thank you.I just thought I'd mention that you can be a foreigner and have a British bank account.
He is, but don't spread it around -- you'll ruin his image. My husband had a summer job in Britain last year, and we opened an account with a British bank. Since the dollar was so weak against the pound, we left the money there when we came home, and our British bank sends our bank statements all the way to the US. So, you don't have to be a citizen to open a bank account. I don't know if opening an account in another country is worth it to you, but I just thought I'd mention that you can be a foreigner and have a British bank account.Cassandra31EEE said:Did i mentioned that you 're an angel?but I'll PM you.

The Last Wish is a collection of short stories set in the Witcher universe. One of these short stories, The Witcher, is depicted in the game by way of the introduction movie sequence. The game itself tells a different story though, one that is set after the conclusion of the saga and does not appear in any of Sapkowski's writing (and therefore cannot be considered canon). Blood of Elves narratively comes after the stories in The Last Wish.Granjow said:Is it right that «The Last Wish» is the story that is also covered in The Witcher, and that «Blood of the Elves» is the story afterwards?
:hmmm: I'd wager it's just the covers that differ. I haven't heard of any differences in content between publishing runs. I have the one with this cover and from what I can see from reading the Witcher Wiki, I haven't missed out on anything. From memory, the stark red cover is the US version, whereas the bookish looking on is simply the UK version.edit: I just checked the Wiki page for the Witcher series and found no differences in the described contents of the book, so it looks like it is just the covers. Thought so, but I thought I'd better check before sending you up the garden pathGranjow said:
Not even nearly. The Last Wish and Blood of Elves and indeed all of Sapkowski's other books are all before - quite a long time before - the story in The Witcher. The Last Wish is essentially a slightly postmodern skit on a number of classic European folk tales - it's good but it isn't great, I think the nearest English language equivalent would be Fritz Leiber's Ffard and the Grey Mouser stories. When I read The Last Wish I was surprised that such a big deal seemed to be being made of stories which didn't seem that outstanding. Blood of Elves really moves up a gear, creating a whole consistent world with complex geopolitics and a much richer range of characters; it really is good work - but leaves the reader disappointingly dangling. It's not a complete narrative in itself and you definitely need to read the next book in the sequence (which, sadly, isn't translated into English yet). Both are worth reading; The Last Wish is fun and interesting and Blood of Elves is an excellent start to a narrative.Granjow said:
