Graphic downgrade

Now if we're done with all the pointless rebukes and accusations, can people return to discussing things like civilized folks instead? Thanks.
Few posts deleted, further in the same vein attacking other users shall be met with severe action.

Notice few arrows that will help you see it better; that's completely different quality, even Geralt mesh looks like has less polys.

Uh... what do those additional red arrows serve to point out? I already noticed the parts your giant red arrows are pointing out while taking the pictures. However:

The arrow indicating/comparing the wings doesn't mean much, since I already proved the creatures are either completely different or have been redesigned with additional detail added to its back. Refer to previous post to see why this makes comparing the creatures near-irrelevant when discussing a downgrade.

The arrow indicating/comparing Geralt's armor doesn't mean much for the same reason as the arrow indicating/comparing the wings. The armors are completely different, and hence comparing them is once again near-irrelevant when discussing a downgrade because, for all you know, 2015 footage armor might have looked like that since the start. This is different from comparing LOD shots because that can (more or less/usually) be objectively compared no matter the scenery. That does not work when discussing textures. Furthermore, that bit of armor looking less detailed than the 2013 shot is likely (as stated before...) due to sharpening filter.

Finally, the arrow indicating/comparing the grass is... The two grass patches, in case you didn't notice, feature completely different grass so I'm not sure what you're comparing here. Is it the fact that 2013 grass patch looks more detailed? Most likely a sharpening filter. Please refer to the picture comparisons posted by wavebend pages ago that featured grass with and without sharpening. That's not to say that the filter is the ONLY difference, but it is currently the most likely one.

I'm not disputing your subjective apparent claim that the 2015 shot looks bad. I'm just pointing out that, given a LOT of things about the shots are quite different content-wise, they aren't much use in objectively proving a DOWNGRADE because the armor and grass (for all you know) could have looked like that since 2013 except, if you had snuck into CDPR's office and seen them back then, they would have had a sharpening filter to juice them up a little. Which would mean, in thy subjective opinion, TW3 looked like dogshit from the beginning in that scenario.

Also:

Or we are looking on xbox and ultra pc.

I've seen this (that 2013 footage could be/is the holy ultra setting on PC) stated a few times by different people and find it odd, because 2013 footage used a different renderer which is long gone and the art direction has changed. You will not be seeing 2013 footage on PC at ultra. Ultra in 2013 (if there was even such a thing) and ultra in 2015 will look different. Whether you think this means 2015 ultra will look worse for it, is another matter entirely.

No volumetric clouds or clouds around the higher up mountains? Ugh say it isn't so!!!

They said round about last July that they'd had to cut back a little on their earlier hopes for volumetric clouds, but they were still there. To the best of our knowledge, that hasn't changed.

And we know there's one guy in the team who specialises on clouds.

I don't remember anyone saying Volumetic Clouds were gone but instead something about "Volumetric Mist" (which I presume means fog because mist has never been mentioned before)

@Dragonbird I remember Jose Teixeira saying that they had to cut back on the volumetric mists. I don't know if that affects the clouds though (assuming not). Although, the news that you are talking about might be a completely different thing too :)

Edit: Ah, I see @sidspyker ninja'd me :) Anyway, don't bother with this one then.

Somebody needs to go and search for the source info, because I'm definitely a little vague on this. I thought it was clouds cut back, and mist and fog confirmed as not there (they never had been, but some had misinterpreted some of the FX in the early videos as volumetric rather than particles)

@sidspyker - Help! You probably know...

Well it was this Czech interview.

@C0bR translated a few keypoints
>tried to push for a volumetric mist, not allowed by the technical director, may come back to it in the future
>VGX in TW2 was done by one person
>Sapkowski visited the studio several times, mainly at the beggining, to check on the writers
>they had to rewrite the whole streaming system at the beggining of 2014 due to the amount of content
>many people favour the Japanese VA, Geralt sounds like a samurai
>few more "endings" than the original 36, decisions will affect the world around you, but wont lock out an entire area like in TW2

The system which loads all the assets in the world as you move/look in a direction. What people see as "pop-in" aka content loading, streaming into the world as you progress. Mostly used in open-world games where you can't load the entire level into memory but not always.

They have always been semi-volumetric IIRC. Volumetric [anything] is expensive anyway.

Is it just me or are the textures on the wyvern's face amazingly detailed? I mean wow.

Yes. You are right. Better than SOD trailer.

why are people so worried about the grass? Are you really going to sit there and watch the grass grow or are you going to go out and hunt monsters like a real witcher? :p

I thing you do not know what does "atmosphere" mean in game.
