Imperial audience mission

when doing the Imperial audience quest why cant i tell the general guy about my decisions in witcher 2? I read that would be that's what would happen while getting your hair cut but i never got the option to tell him anything besides how his men died

i didnt import any witcher 2 saves(dont even have any on my pc) and im playing on pc death marrch difficulty gog version of the game if that matters

in the main menu, where you select "new game", yu must select "simulate/activate decisions questions or something like that, make sure you see and select that option when starting new game
