I really wouldn't mind knowing what do employees of CDPR think of Polygon and Anita Sarkeesian bashing TW3 after they spent the last couple of years working really hard on this game.

Why? I imagine the rules are the same on any forum, if you voice your opinion in a logical, respectable manner and isn't off-topic I think the moderators wouldn't ban you. I think.

Well lets just say that my logic and respect are out of the window when it comes to hostility like racism and sexism for the sake of fame and money.

It is always forgotten in these articles that for much of history, and even in many places in the world today (in large parts of Europe Slavs are seen roughly the same as America's Hispanic population, while in the lands that were in/boarder the old Soviet Union there is a very tense relationship with them), Slavs are not thought of as white.

Though I also admit I was surprised that I saw no people from the country that starts with a Z in this game. That was a missed opportunity to add lore to the world by seeing another country through the eyes of one of its inhabitants. It would also have added more people of colour.

I feel your pain, everyone in this thread is definitely angry and upset. I am too. In this gaming landscape its tough being a Witcher fan.

I like this comment which is something I often see, confusing cultures with skin colour:

Let’s take the more nuanced view here instead of focusing on skin colour. The people in The Witcher 3 are very multicultural, and the game does a far better job than most highlighting the sensitivities of multicultural diaspora brought about by war and other events. People speak different languages in the game, have different religious beliefs, and have difficulty getting along with people from other regions. Multiculturalism is well and alive in Sapkowski’s world. The fact that everyone has the same skin colour doesn’t and shouldn’t matter.

Also, this whole thing about skin colour was something I hadn't even noticed in the game myself, I did however notice the different cultures. Then again, I guess you notice these things if you're actively looking for them. What REALLY makes people different is not how they look but the culture in which they live in - The Witcher 3 did well there I think.

Hell no! We ban those people -first-. Are you kidding? It's like Little North Korea around here! First ones to go are the reasonable ones.

You're...not thinking of being reasonable, are you, Boats?

Their diversity apply only to superficial traits like skin color and phenotype. Models, textures and VA.
Having diverse games with different ethnic settings is not diversity. Everything should be "diverse" by catering to USA ethnic settings. What a bunch of shallow morons. Different and diverse cultures and world vies, heresy. How can I think that non diverse monoculture(even in one country in Europe there are big internal differences in couture) is not inherently worse than "diverse" one.
Bet that In Japan no one advocates that game need some Japanese characters.

Commenter that argued how Poland wasnt so white because we had very big minorities(most whte with similar phenotype) in history was beyond retarded.

I would get the criticism of the entire white cast if, the game was set in nilfgaard as there would of course be zerrikanians, most likely but in the northern kingdoms, not so much. Hell i'm a person that will point out bigotry in terms of racism and sexism whenever i see it and fight it, but given the context of the Witcher and the location, the argument of deliberate racial bias is one that fails to understand both the series and fiction in general. Of course if the player was forced to engage in extremely racist or sexist behavior without any repercussions then there would be an argument to be made. Heck my biggest problem with the Witcher 1 was the sex cards that objectified a number of the women in that game and for that there was an argument to be made in terms of sexism, but with the Witcher 3 i dont see an argument for claiming racial or sexist bigotry (another equally relevant debate) on the part of the developers. In the case of the article the argument he is mistaking, is trying to force a real issue in the gaming industry upon a game that isn't even relevant for that debate, sure there is a debate to the positives and negatives of Rust's approach but the witcher 3, i don't see it.

Note this is taken from my own perspective as a male socialist feminist who despises any form of discrimination, but even i can see when a reasoned argument becomes dogmatic witch hunt, full of confirmation bias.

I really, really don't like it when people do that.

Let the developers free to do whatever they want. 100% white, then 100% white. 100% black, then 100% black. They want to stereotype as "redneck", "black gang", "asian nerd"? All male? All female? Let them do whatever they want.

If someone wants to make racially diverse games, they're free to do them.

Who is the racist? The one who doesn't care and just does whatever he wants, or the person that wants to see a certain race in game?

Imagine you're a developer and you have this amazing concept of a black boxer character, and here comes someone and tells you. "Sorry, too many black people, black boxer a stereotype, make a white guy instead". No, I want to make a freaking black boxer!

Do we whine about japanese animations and games having asian faces and art style? No. We won't play it if we don't like it, but we don't go telling them to make white characters and change their art style or call them racists.

Same with everyone, if you don't like something don't play it, but don't tell the developers what to do.

Well, we tried, but it appears that too many people want to turn this into an attack on countries rather than sticking to the topic. Flamebaiting is against the rules of the forum, and there's a limit on how many times we want to have to come back in and delete posts. Another one has just gone.
So...
