Adjustable Camera Mod

Adjustable Camera Mod

A lot of people have been asking CDPR to implement the ability to change the camera position, many of you want the close up camera that you get in interiors and when overburdened, while exploring the outside world.

CDPR still haven't answered this request, in the meantime there is a workaround using CheatEngine, i will provide you with instructions and download links.

IMPORTANT: I set NUMPAD 0 as the hotkey to toggle the custom camera, modify it by right clicking "Adjust Camera Position" and selecting "Set/Change Hotkeys"

CheatEngine (No setup required): https://mega.co.nz/#!iZNWjAhA!gwG4eSP-szYyxl8kMLIQM9CN8BFYRdCUI4CWQtRXgLI

Witcher 3 Table: https://mega.co.nz/#!TAU0mbZB!R1IZkmZITjfy-Jj_4MQJ0HMYNtOhI4001wXYyByw8Nk

1. Download both files and extract CheatEngine in a place of your choosing

2. Launch Witcher 3 and load into the game

3. Launch Cheat Engine.exe

4. Click on the icon below "File" in the top left corner and select "witcher3.exe" as your process

5. Click on "File" from the previous step and open the other file you downloaded, named "witcher3.ct"

6. In the bottom half of the program you should now have a list of items like this http://puu.sh/ipG6Z/434aac2d89.png , scroll down and check the box next to "Adjust Camera Position" as well as the box next to "Camera Distance"

7. Under the "Value" column it should say 3.5, double click that and enter your preferred value, the larger the value the further away the camera will be

You can also change the horizontal camera position, positive values move it to the left and negative values move it to the right.

Here are some examples:

-Camera Distance of 1.5 and Horizontal of 0.5

-this resembles the indoor and overburdened camera

-Camera Distance of 1.8 and Horizontal of 0

-this is the same camera position used in old trailers

http://i.imgur.com/TZfO0Vf.png

-when you use witcher senses the camera will zoom in to a first person mode, perhaps you'll like this, if not then sadly there's no way of fixing it

-Camera Distance of 1.8 and Horizontal of 0.5

-Combat using this preset

ISSUES:

-When going indoors with a custom camera preset you will experience some shakiness, this is because the game is trying to set its own value and CheatEngine is trying to set its own value too, causing conflict, turn off the custom camera when indoors to avoid this, i set a toggle key with NUMPAD 0, you can modify it by right clicking "Adjust Camera Position" and selecting "Set/Change Hotkeys"

-The custom camera causes problems with IGNI Firestream: http://i.imgur.com/xOhjrxw.png The game moves the camera when you use this ability, which conflicts with your custom value

-When using witcher senses the game zooms in the camera which will also conflict with your setting, if you set your camera position close enough and move the horizontal position to the left, you shouldn't experience any clipping, you'll be in a "first person mode" like shown here: http://i.imgur.com/q7s776m.png

I don't take any credit for any of these tools, all i did was reupload them and provide instructions for their use.

Hope this helped you.

Very cool! I have always wanted the camera to be closer like in the trailers. It looks so much cooler. I am surprised CDPR has not addressed this.
It's amazing if you can deal with the small issues it causes.

I'm doing a full playthrough with it now, i'm enjoying it a lot more, i feel more immersed and connected with the character.

I also love it during combat, feels much more personal.

Also the side effect of making the witcher sense mode into first person is really cool IMO.

Thank you so much for posting this.

I've been using the Witcher Sense without distortion tweak to try and emulate a closer cam but it's a pain to hold down the button while exploring and also the bleaching and sound changing effect kinda spoils the view.

This is so much better, just a shame it hasn't been implemented by CDPR themselves while leaving the combat cam intact. EDIT: Though the hotkey mitigates that :)

Cheers.

Enjoy it, glad i could help.

I expect that once we figure out how to decrypt all of the game files, it should be possible to implement a proper changeable camera mod, in the meantime this is the best there is.

Does combat still feel..well...possible? I mean if it gets too close it becomes a hassle.
You can use whatever values you want, i specify what i used in my screenshots.

I'm having no issues with the combat, like i said there's a problem with Igni Firestream, the game forces the camera way too close when using that ability.

I'm enjoying it much more like this.

@Wolfmeister1010

Well, it depends. I've fought wolves and they move around so well and get behind you that not being able to see where they are may not be everyone's cup of tea. Same with Drowners and, I imagine, any groups that do they same.

However, when facing one large creature, it can actually make that monster feel more threatening and makes the fight more vivid.

Having said that, as mentioned, the hotkey allows you to switch quickly back to a normal view when entering combat so I think I'll definitely be sticking with this tweak for the time being. Just in time for me entering the last section of the game too, nice! :)

Very good info regarding the camera adjusting requested and ignored feature!

I personally was/am using Cheat Engine with the script "adjust camera position" (I also load up optionally the FoV table) BUT, sadly, I am having an issue that forbids me to enjoy the game like this: a constant shaking of the camera whenever I press some kb buttons.

For example: I press E (use) and camera shakes, I press ALT (toggle walk), F5 (quicksave) camera shakes again. Still no idea how to fix this or IF this is fixable at all. Obviously, this turns the game quite unplayable.

And, of course, it's the issue with the camera being too close in combat (there is no separate CE script to change values for combat camera). Can't control the fight and enemies can flank me very easily.

Overall, pretty disappointed by this situation. :)

I set the toggle for the camera script as NUMPAD 0 which you can change, you should use that whenever in interiors or during combat if you want.

If you change the horizontal value of the camera it seems like it shakes in exteriors as well, though changing the distance doesn't.

I've not experienced shaking when performing the actions you mentioned so can't help with that sadly.

Already tested with different scripts active/inactive. Makes no bloody difference...

Geralt still twitches/shakes when interacting with an object (pick up flowers for example), when starting to run/sprint or when quick-saving. More so, sometimes it shakes a bit even when running (talking about camera).

Damn fix worked a few patches ago but now it seems i am stuck with this issue. No idea what is causing it; may be some video setting? Tried asking help on CE forums but no one gives any input.

I can't even use "mods" or "cheats" to make the game as I want to! And all this because I want the OTS camera from Witcher 1... :)

Tried to play with the Witcher 1 (overburder) camera, and I love it! I would say that it's totally possible to play with it even during combat. But it's pain in the a** to use since the mentioned problems when using senses or entering an indoor area. Really hope that CD Projekt RED will finally introduce camera options in the next patch.

Hey, so I want to use this, but the Witcher 3 table file no longer exists :(. Could you reupload please?

EDIT: Nvm, found it somewhere else :)

You might still wanna try this mod, if you haven't already. It should be want you want and more. Also, it is in general a lot more polished than using cheat engine ;)

Oh sweet, thanks man!

Could you please explain to me how this works exactly? I'm a noob at this. Where do I extract the folder? Which exactly is the mod folder? Also, which buttons do I press to change camera position, I don't see it mentioned anywhere.

Sure thing.

So you just download the zip from the above link and extract it wherever you like. After extraction there should be a folder starting with the letters "mod...".
This folder will have to be copied into the Mod folder of the game. To do so, locate your game's installation folder, for example "X:/GOG/The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt". In this game folder there should be folders such as "bin", "content", "DLC" and so on. If there is not already a folder called "Mods", simply create a new empty folder called "Mods" there and copy the extracted folder starting with letters "mod..." in there. The installation is finished.
Now you just need to configure the buttons you want to use to zoom and shift the camera.
Instructions about this are also hinted on the mod description part on the very bottom of the page I linked above (inside a red box).
1) Basically you will have to to locate the "input.settings" file which includes all the key bindings for the game. It is stored in your Windows user folder which should be the following path "C:/Users/YOUR USERNAME/My Documents/The Witcher 3/input.settings" (the ending ".settings" might be not visible, don't worry about it ;))
2) Before doing any changes you should copy the original file to some other folder as a backup.
3) Then you can open the file. A program to use for opening and editing such text files, I recommend, is Notepad++ (https://notepad-plus-plus.org/)
4) When you open the file hit "CTRL+F" and search for "[Combat]". Under this heading you simply insert the following two lines:
IK_U=(Action=CameraPositionCicle)
IK_T=(Action=CameraHPosition)
This will set the U-Key to zoom the camera and the T-Key to shift it to the right or left.
Obviously you can also enter different buttons that are not used so far.
You now need to copy these two lines and paste it also under the following headings:
[Combat_Replacer_Ciri], [Boat], [Exploration], [Exploration_Replacer_Ciri], [Horse] and [Horse_Replacer_Ciri].
5) IMPORTANT: Save the file AND then right-click it, go to properties and select "Read only".
6) If you did everything correct and now lunch your game there should be a popup saying "REDKit" and some number counting. This is normal and means the game is reading the modded files. After this window vanishes your game might start minimized, so simply click on it to bring it back to full screen.
7) When you now load your save the buttons you chose above should allow you to modify zoom level and camera offset whenever you like, by simply pressing these two buttons.

Hope this helps and have fun enjoying your closer camera ;)
