I found another program to add to the list. It's called Zoomex. I don't recall installing it, but after trial and error with the 142 message, it turned out this was my problem.

I just wanted to say I LOVE THE SERIES!!! I just finished The Witcher 2 today. Got the game when it first came out for the PC. Had to beat the The Witcher 1 first. Stopped playing for a little while on 2 due to not being able to pass a certain part. I wish more developers would play this...

Items disappearing when dropped and then save When I drop items on the ground to ready myself for a battle, save the game, then reload, the items are gone.
