Hi Tommy, Only the ASUS Network, Sound and USB3 drivers for the MoBo had been installed - These were all on the machine when the game was working prior to the patch too though. Removed them (except the sound driver) and tried again...no luck Tried removing then reinstalling the .net files as...

I have just tried doing a fresh windows install...formated the drive and started from scratch. Nothing on it now but the latest drivers, windows updates (includng the .net files) Steam and the Witcher - STILL get the 142 error on launch! Intel i7 960 CPU 6Gb DDR3 Ram P6X58D-E MoBo Nvidia GTX580...
