I suggest that you creat a new save file and then go to the giant cave if somehow you win and finish the quest without failing carry one if not you can go back to your previous saved game :)!

You should have manual saving so each time you play the game at the end you save it manually and if anything goes wrong God forbid you can always go back one day back and play the game :)!
