Comparable Rpg with Immersion - like Cyberpunk but with heart and substance. Suggestions? (Also comparison and talk a little about Cyberpunk etc.

You know, I think I figured out why CP2077's story is "engaging but ultimately forgettable" ... TL;DR = It's story pretty much just treads old ground. I just recalled that it's one of the complaints of the Skill Up review. Cyberpunk is under speculative fiction where you ask "What if ..." and...

looking for a cyberpunk indie game

Reminds me of SYNTHETIK (which also seem to have a cyberpunk-like setting, although it isn't really big on story from what I heard), I learned about it from SsethTzeentach (warning: edgy humor), It also has a stand-alone expansion that's free. Steam reviews say it can be considered a demo...

looking for a cyberpunk indie game

Since this has become a general cyberpunk game recommendation thread ... EXAPUNKS Not a RPG though. It's a Zachtronics puzzle game. The world building is nice and I wished they expanded on it further. It can get quite difficult however- at least for me.

I was replying to the complaint about lack of gender/genitals customizations in Deus Ex. It just wasn't something that was important in the year 2000. 1608722478 I think it comes down to expectations. When people hear "cyberpunk", they think Blade Runner. You can write "cyberpunk"-like...

I read a review where CP2077's story is described as "engaging but ultimately forgettable". From what I have seen, it's a fair description. Not sure why/how it ended up like this though.

Let’s be honest here. Deus Ex was made in a different era with different priorities. SJW-style surface level “diversity” wasn’t a priority in 2000. Not that body customization means much gameplay-wise in CP2077 anyway. It just controls which dating path you take ... that’s it. It has no other...

Do NOT go into a bathroom and flush the toilet...

Wow. That texture seam. PS: Why the heck is everything indoors so freaking dark? Can barely see anything half the time.

    Immersion vs Gameplay exploits

I don't cheat in general. If a game is too hard, I just give up and consider that the game is just not for me. I do occasionally exploit though if I feel it adds something to the game that the game should have had - e.g. I duplicate liquids in Terraria until they patched it and added bottomless...

Thanks devs for lighting up my depression.

Sorry about being a wet blanket here ... but having watch some Let's Plays of the game, I think the game made me more depressed. It's not the bugs or halfbaked design but rather the story. It's as dark as hell. I know it's kind of CDPR's thing but it's worse than in Witcher 3 and it pretty much...

Point in time that you would have been fine if graphic technology had stopped.

Actually by the PS2 era game development was already hideously expensive. That's why Naughty Dog sold out to Sony. Their founders felt with the size of budgets being where they were, it was too risky to go solo. DVD or no DVD, the PS2 (coming off the meteoric success of the PS1) just had so...

Thoughts on influencers/youtubers being NPCs in the game

Yes? It hurts their enjoyment of the product. And that's frankly the most important thing as enjoyment is the raison d'etre of the game.

Thoughts on influencers/youtubers being NPCs in the game

Guess I'm glad I haven't bought the game. Probably never will now. This is the risk you take when you include real life people in your games/movies. If I don't like the person, it's will be a knock against your game if you include them.

    Anybody else disappointed with netrunning/cyberspace/hacking?

Everything he did could have been done just using a command-line. I think it's safe to say, "hacking" is the least realistic part of cyberpunk fiction. Frankly, there is no reason to have "neural interfaces", much less ones that shock you or could hurt you in anyway, as those are only...

When this version of the game gonna be released?

Might actually have more gameplay since you can hack any old vehicle. Haven't seen anyone on any Let's Play of this game do that. I'm going bitch a bit and say that the indoor environments are way too dark. Can't see crap half the time. (Ironically I find the outside too bright.) Frankly...

So Sony Removed Cyberpunk2077 from the PSN Store

From what I read, bits and pieces here and there, Sony has min performance requirements for games released on their consoles. They let CP2077 launch assuming CDPR will patch the game to an acceptable performance level. They don't do individual refunds. Thus when CDPR announced that they will...

    Favorite companion from any game?

    Games need more cute companions.

Point in time that you would have been fine if graphic technology had stopped.

Part of me wants to say PS1 era graphics. PS2 is when development cost started to get crazy and it's no longer possible for a small team of 5-6 developers to create a AAA game. Diversity in types of games started to drop around that time as budgets got bigger, risk adversity increased, the days...

    Anybody else disappointed with netrunning/cyberspace/hacking?

While I feel we should not stray too far from the core tropes of Cyberpunk least it stops being Cyberpunk. I wonder how many people feel "VR cyberspace hacking" is a "must have" because it's one of the few tropes that's quite hard to logically justify. William Gibson's biggest flaw, I believe...
