I had a problem with the honeycombs before 1.7, like you sometimes I will get the E byt can't loot at others I don't get anything at all. The tree in White Orchard close to the herbalist has always been like that for me.

The sword has 275 less damage than the sword you have equipped, it also has 15% chance more to poison but armor piercing is 140 less. The bonus experience looks to be the same but the armor piercing is 140 less, yrden, attack power and chance to dismember are all better on the sword you have...

I can set it on fire but I can't select it after it falls, just like the tree its on it wont select so it doesn't even say honnycomb just nothing. I am going to try a new game and see it it work.

Can not harvest honeycomb after 1.05 As of the 1.05 patch I can not harvest honey from the bee's nest anymore. I have tried it on several nests and it just doesn't work.
