The basic issue is the game was released about 2-3 months too early. They should have got a community team to extensively test it and that would have removed many of the bugs and highlighted the performance issues to resolve before release. 1.06 may fix game breaking quest bugs but will not fix performance. So unless you have a main quest bug I'd recommend finishing it, as there are other games to play and some good new ones coming shortly, plus Batman is released today.

They have been working on this issue for other a month now and no further on. The only problem is the majority of players will have finished the game by the time this is resolved and the only priority will be to have it resolved before the expansion packs come out.

It has gone v quiet now and the fixes in 1.05 will not affect me but essential for some, but disappointed the framerate issue and NPC shambles will not be sorted in this patch. I'm level 22 and the technical issues will probably be solved just as I finish the game. GREAT

You can't guarantee (and on past performance) 1.05 will completely fix the frame rate issue. So it's a choice to play it, shelve it (but it could be quite a few weeks before it's resolved) or trade it in really in my opinion based on the frame rate issue.
