PC Gaming no future. vendor fighting

I think you are completely overreacting if you think that Nvidia and AMD having a few fancy proprietary technologies is going to lead to the end of PC gaming. Most of the important technologies work on all cards. A part from anything else if you play on console then you definitely won't get any...

Jose Teixeira finally setting the record straight, thank you!

But people have also been basing the downgrade argument through comparing recent gameplay with the 35 minute demo from last year. That wasn't a trailer and the visuals are still different.

    Witcher 3's character models

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e1mwhdYZvSE&list=LLiPYASdMhJVmaAUo4uf7IwQ&index=21 This sort of technology is still a few years away from being implemented into games but it gives you a glimpse of what is possible.

    Witcher 3's character models

Agreed. Also I think the character models in games such as Crysis 3 and Ryse are perhaps even better than those in Witcher 3. Rendered at high resolutions they almost look real.

Reviews prior to release only for PS4 - no PC or Xbox this week

The fact that the PS4 version, the only one given to reviewers, has a number technical issues does raise questions over the state of the PC and Xbox versions. At the end of the day the best option is to wait for reviews before purchasing.

    [DISCUSSION] Witcher 3 - Reviews

I think you're right. At the end of the day this game still has a number of technical problems (despite the two delays) and to pretend these issues hadn't occurred wouldn't be right. It's a shame really.

    [DISCUSSION] Witcher 3 - Reviews

Technical issues are definitely having an impact on the scores. In a situation like this should reviewers update their scores if a patch is released? It's probably for the best that they haven't given out PC and Xbox copies for review yet.

    Different camera options?

I don't think there are. One of the devs said on Twitter that there would be but then backtracked on that. There are automatic modes (i.e. the camera position changes based on what you are doing) but I don't think there is an option to set the camera to a particular point.

Isn't this the exact same thing somebody wrote a few pages back? Either that or you are repeating yourself.

    The Witcher 3 - Visuals

That's a spurious comparison. You do realise that those videos were released within a coupe of weeks of one another around the time of PAX East? Nobody is basing their view on a visual downgrade by comparing videos that were released in the last few weeks with one another. This is based on...

    The Witcher 3 - Visuals

It will probably have some of those options but given what we have seen so far in trailers and screenshots (which have been at a mix of ultra and high) I wouldn't expect it to make much of a difference.

    The Witcher 3 - Visuals

I've checked and it was semi-volumetric rendering of clouds that was removed. With regards to the fog, there seems to be conflicting information regarding what was originally meant to be in the game. I have heard some people talk about semi-volumetric fog and other talk about aerial perspective...

I know Physx is in the game. I meant to say that volumetric fog would use Physx but as the volumetric fog is no longer there it doesn't matter.

    The Witcher 3 - Visuals

This is what stands out to me the most. The terrain is as flat as a pancake. I could understand if they couldn't use displacement mapping but the fact that there doesn't even appear to be any parallax occlusion is surprising.

    The Witcher 3 - Visuals

I doubt the weather effects will be any different. We already know that effects like volumetric fog have been removed. Volumetric fog would require Nvidia PhysX but it is not in the game. As for tessellation, I don't really see much (if any) in PC footage. PS4 does have a large amount of VRAM...

    The Witcher 3 - Visuals

I haven't seen any evidence of tessellation in the footage. Nvidia would probably also have mentioned if tessellation was being used.

    The Witcher 3 - Visuals

I was at least hoping it would be possible to replicate the visuals from the 35min demo on PC but it doesn't look like that is going to happen. There have clearly been some significant changes to the game since then. Hopefully modders will be able to improve things.
