Windows XP - crashing ( not sound related )

Well, the original purpose of this thread was for people having trouble with the game crashing on startup, and it is NOT SOUND RELATED. Yet, most of the people here seem to be having the sound bug that seems to be easily fixed. Since no one seems to care about the original topic on this thread...

Windows XP - crashing ( not sound related )

Ok, I am seeing a whole lot of fixes for the EAX sound issue in this forum, even though it is in the title that this is "Windows XP crashing -NOT SOUND RELATED". When I install the game and try to boot it up, it won't start, and this problem has absolutely nothing to do with the EAX problem. So...

Windows XP - crashing ( not sound related )

I just uninstalled the game, reinstalled to version 1.0, and then applied the 1.4 patch, and I am getting the same problem. The game won't boot up at all, instead giving me the error "AppName: witcher.exe AppVer: 1.4.5.1282 ModName: witcher.exeModVer: 1.4.5.1282 Offset: 0042432a"

Windows XP - crashing ( not sound related )

I opened my .bif files with notepad and they are completely blank, so looks we are on the right track for figuring out what the problem is. I have a monthly internet usage cap, and I have already used it all up by downloading and redownloading all the broken files for this update, so hopefully...

Windows XP - crashing ( not sound related )

So, I'm searching around the forum for other solutions to people's problems, and it seems like we are the only people having this error. Does anyone here know if this problem has come up anywhere else on this forum, or is this problem unique to the few people on this thread?

    Enhanced Edition patch download problems

When I downloaded the patch (TWEE_Upgrade.exe) and ran it, I could get through the beginning of the installation process and the activation fine. After that, it began the installation of the patch onto my C: drive and everything seemed to work fine. Then it started to apply patch 1.4 and...
