    Issues with Gunplay with Cyberpunk

Video games ≠ Reality. Developers change nearly everything to remove, reduce aspects we find boring, unenjoyable or exaggerate the opposite. You cannot really judge it by how % close to realistic it is. In this case, I think is believable enough for most people ( and let's be honest: looks...

    Damage scaling and multipliers

From last year's demo it seems there is no level based damage/reduction for weapons/armor. ( levelled gear) I asked someone who saw this year's demo on damage numbers, confirmation was ( but he wasn't entirely sure) it was in single ( or close to it) digits...at the time V and enemies (...

    E3 2019 & post-E3 2019 - Media News & Previews

Spieltimes said on this: “The bullet damage, ragdoll animations, and enemy response to taking damage is carefully animated and highly detailed” Anne Munition also mentioned there ( seems to be) locational damage ( npcs limping/shoot in legs, and similar) Still, reports seem to be wildly...

    Issues with Gunplay with Cyberpunk

True, and I'm not expecting here "super arcady" style ( like in Rage)...but they kind of feel fake? There is no real sense of "rewarding kill", they kind of just collapse. Mafia 3 is probably a better example of this ( with more emphasis on realism) I think people overlooked this ( last...

    Issues with Gunplay with Cyberpunk

I've made this thread on Reddit, hoping developers will see it here. Some comparisons: 1. Gun sounds: Standard Pistol/auto fire in 2077: Now compare it with same type of weapon in different game/similar setting: You can hear how "beefier" is the sound in Syndicate, with a far more...

Weekly Poll 10/1/2018 - The Gunplay!

    8. John Woo gunfights: fast, good visual effects, super lethal and precise: Max Payne CDPR could take this even further with good armor system: it protects only what it covers, so you'd have to target weak spots in a very narrow period of time. ( making scanning and evaluation of enemy...

Weekly Poll 10/1/2018 - The Gunplay!

That really wouldn't work and would only make it immensely frustrating. N1 rule of action, real time gameplay is: always make sure player is in control ( and 100% knows what specific input leads to) and responsiveness. If you make it RNG or char progression based, sometimes it works and...

Weekly Poll 10/1/2018 - The Gunplay!

Two different kinds. When it comes to weightiness and raw functionality, Imo, something like RPGish version of Max Payne would be best here. It's fast, it's precise, it's deadly and stylish as fuck. Gunfights are brief and brutal and there is not a lot of room for error: it has that sweet spot...

Cyberpunk 2077 Demo Dull, Needs more Vibrancy

On color composition, I like most of it, except for bright green/yellow, bit less purple...Cyberpunk aestethics (imo, ofc) work best with black vs blue, red, metallic, etc. On the images...yes, I'd say it needs more sharpening effect, stronger contrast. Kind of reminds me when using SweetFX on...

Please Give Us a New Gameplay Trailer!

If they do, it has to be substantially different...it really makes no sense to release male demo, would only disappoint the audience. - Night life, different area of the city - interactions with npcs, less emphasis on violence - Showcase of different skills, other types of weapons, stealth...

Metro Exodus is a good first person (cdpr can learn)

Looks ok, but 2077 gunplay is already better. I'm more interested here in survival aspect. There is a game called Robo Recall that would be a better example ( it's in VR though): it's literally visual/audio effects porn . Which is what every (good) FPS gameplay is really all about ( compared...

Weekly forum based interview questions for CD Projekt RED

Saves me the trouble of pestering them over twitter. :P But one question I have in mind, that should be clear to answer at this point: Will "V" already have established relationships with some characters? Jackie, Victor...it's obvious there is history there. Lifepaths having an impact on...

Are we able to carry 50 guns and 20 jackets?

Is this inventory design question? It's still a work in progress, but we can read some of their goals here My own take? For equipped gear, let the player click on every item ( that you see here on V) and this brings up 3D models with item properties, on the side. Use colored bars, for easy...

    Mechanical Faithfulness to Cyberpunk 2020...

That really wouldn't work, using just base damage changes. Fast firing rate weapons like SMGs would simply shred everything , make most other weapons kind of pointless. Though I agree in principle. Action gameplay based on 2020 ( in "spirit") should have some of the most heavy, impactful gunplay...

Weekly Poll 9/25/18 - Difficulty Levels

Custom difficulty settings should become a must, in rpgs, especially of this size. You cannot please everyone with 4-5 simple settings, there are just too many variables here, differences in how we all play, etc. And you'll end up losing your hair trying to please everyone, later on, with...

Getting to objectives/locations w/o objective markers or quest compass

It's not just about "realism", it's about psychology behind what makes exploration rewarding/addictive/etc. Good exploration is more than just coming across "stuff" every 45 seconds. By using direct and satisfying visual/audio stimulus, you create addictive loop that makes the player do it...

Red Dead Redemption 2 (Red Dead 3)

I wonder how it will work. It seems like something cool at first, and whole lot of busywork or completely inconsequential for most of the game. I love survival elements ( when done right), but that's really take it or leave it for most people, even with individual components. And "AAA" typically...

    Media, News & Previews Thread

Not sure if this is poorly phrased or accurate, but in this interview hand to hand combat and melee are mentioned seperately,,,so some kind of unarmed confirmed?

Square Enix's Cyberpunk Prototype Demo from TGS2018

Though I prefer overall western games, one thing I would give Japanese credit for: style and imagination. We are too much obsessed here with "Muh realism!" to the point it sometimes feels it limits where this medium can take us.

Red Dead Redemption 2 (Red Dead 3)

Rockstar is one odd company. On one hand, they are really second to none when it comes to "little touches" with overall world design. On the other, their gameplay, mission design and mechanics are painfully shallow and simplistic with borderline cringe and average at best storytelling.
