I had this issue. It took a few attempts to get through it, but what you need to do is reload from before/when you pick the gun up, and then after taking each drink, wait for all of the dialogue to stop before aiming or trying to shoot.

Going back to an earlier save would lose me 3 days of playtime and I've done many quests since then... I just hope they can fix it soon for people in similar positions to us.
