1.03 Foliage draw distance nerfed

I really enjoy this game, but one thing I absolutely need is a good environment draw distance. Before patch 1.03 came along, I played everything on Ultra except shadows and foliage distance, which I set to High, and got a cool 30 fps. I still get the same frames with the new patch but I feel certain that the draw distance has changed on the High setting. Grasses phase in a lot closer and bushes and trees are now actually popping in occasionally where they used to not. This is something I observed to NOT happen before the patch as it's one thing I always look for. Has anyone else noticed this??

I HATE looking across the river and seeing bare ground.....

Now that you mention it, I did notice something similar.. Could be a trick of the mind though - not going to install 1.02 to recheck.

I agree. There is much more popin after 1.03, not just foilage too. During the baron conversations i had hair popin on his char. Noticed some NPC popin as well.

Regarding the foliage / grass distances. In your user.settings file on your docs folder. Look for 'GrassDistanceScale', and 'FoliageDistanceScale'. Raising those will increase the distance. Warning that FoliageDistanceScale has a hefty performance cost.

I've noticed the game has fairly prevalent LOD bugs in general, atm. lod popping in right in front of me, and shadows getting incorrectly culled before the camera is facing away, etc. The houses, and geometry, etc can look like their using 128x128 lod mips right up to about 10 feet away lol. Looks pretty wonky sometimes. Nothing I've done via ini adjustments has made any difference.

How do I reinstall 1.02?? I want a roll back!! Because now I am suffering at 25 fps just so I can have the new foliage distance setting set to 'Ultra'.

I assure you, I thoroughly observed the draw distance and even remember specifically chuckling at how amazing I thought it was pre-1.03. At that time, I would like to point out that I could not notice an ounce of difference between High and Ultra when initially adjusting my presets. After this patch, the differences are glaring.

Actually I've decided to re-install without patch 1.03.
I've noticed huge amounts of NPC pop in that didn't happen with patch 1.02
