1.05 PC Patch DOES NOT Resolve NPC Non-Interaction Issue

Edit: Nevermind. I guess it hasn't always been clear to me who can be spoken to at what time. I can talk to armorsmiths and swordsmiths again, which was not the case before the 1.05 patch.

I have had this happen a few times - mainly at blacksmiths. I have always found that a save and reload has corrected the issue though.

EDIT:

I just watched the video. Those Readarian merchants are just normal background NPC's that you cannot interact with. Unless there is an icon on the map then you cannot interact with them. Ones you can are just labelled as normal ie Armourer, Blacksmith, and Merchant.

Sorry. I redid the video with a labeled merchant. The bug is the same.

No problem. As I say, I have had this happen to me as well. When it happens (I play using a controller) I don't even get the interact prompt showing over their heads. However, saving and reloading has always worked for me but in saying that it's only happened on one specific blacksmith (and I can't remember the location). It was in a village and not in a city. Is it just in cities that this is a problem for you - I assume so or else how have you managed to get so much gold ?

Maybe this is just an intended "feature" to make the game harder? :p

Seriously though, pretty bad that it's still an issue if one of the points of this patch was specifically to fix it.

Is 7,000 Orens a lot? The markups are so ridiculous when you buy stuff back -- it makes sense to accumulate wealth.

I suppose I've always latched onto the "scavenge / sell" mechanics in games . . . I build wealth the same way in Bethesda's games (Fallout and Skyrim) too.

Just went to same merchant first i encountered this bug but interesting thing;

when he was behind the bench i could not interact with him but then when i am running back to fast travel he left bench and came near it then i was able to interact.(by the way this is the only merchant bugged for me)

Edit: I went to merchant at least 10 more times never encountered via bug except the first one. (I suppose i interacted via background npc merchant at first they were too close via real one and i did not see that )

I looked at the video (not sure if I looked at the updated video) but the merchant you're talking to is just a regular NPC and not a real merchant that you can talk to. Also most of the merchants that you can talk to disappear at night. The icon on the map points to a merchant that stands nearby during the day. Try waiting till morning.

Nice, glad to hear it's working! Hopefully the rest of it is playable without major issues...
