1.08 and 1.07 Version Crashing. Display Driver Stopped Responding and Has Recovered

i7-2600 3.5Ghz
16GB of memory.
Windows 10 pro 64 bit
Nvidia GTX 560 TI (x2) in SLI
Nvidia Drivers. 352.62
No Mods
No Overclocking of motherboard or video card.

I had this same problem before when running windows 7.

When running version 1/07 or 1.08 version of the game it will load the game and get into game play. If loading from a saved game it will just total freeze the game and windows will come up with "Display Driver Stopped Responding and Has Recovered" from 1 to 5 mins.

I even started started a new game. I can get all the way through the training and to the opening camp and it will crash when you get control to attack.

I uninstalled and reinstalled ver 1.06. Can run games without crashing at all for hours. But as soon put on the 1.08. Can't find 1.07 now to test. It will start to crashing again.

Please any ideas on how to fix this problems... If not.. Please fix the game cdprojektred. As can't even play it as total non playable with the new patch.

Hi Manwoodsal,

I had exactly the same problem after the patch. My first port of call was to check my display drivers, sure enough there was an update as result of switching to Windows 10, when I updated and ran a manual driver update it fixed this issues for me.

I have download the drivers from nvidia. Did a clean install on them. Still have the crashing. I can play Dragon age 3 and any other game without any crashing. I will only get this crash in trying to play witcher 3 in patch 1.07 and 1.08. Patch 1.06 works good. No problems.

I'm also having issues as well... Update up to 1.06 works flawless with my setup (no game crashes at all after hours of game play), but 1.07 and 1.08 will not work no matter what I try. And I have done it all (not using any mods as well)....the changes in 1.07 has made my low end card fail with playing this game, so I can not move past the the 1.06 update which affects my use of any future DLC's or game adjustments.

You would think that an update shouldn't destabilize the game to where it has changed the ability for some to run the game now. I was able to run the game on medium settings using 1.06 with beautifully smooth game play. And yes I know the video card doesn't meet the games posted minimum requirements, but I was having zero issues up to 1.06...even was able to run CheatEngine to enable in game debugging (console commands) with no issues. Also had no issues with going back and forth in window mode to my desktop and browser while in game play.

I was wondering if any one else using an older video card is having this issue...and my card supports DX11.

Nvidia GTX465 (1gig DDR 5 and Liquid cooled, not OC'ed) ....(set on med settings that worked great up to 1.06)
EVGA SuperNOVA 750 G2 power supply
