10 NPC Fixes [Spoilers]

Sometimes it's the little things that mean a lot.

Please consider the following NPC fixes in your next patch.

1. Sarah the Godling doesn't have a character entry. Sarah has an ending. (Chapelle exists in a cutscene and Vserad exists as a ghost!)

2. The Gran character entry should be removed after Strenger has been updated.

3. Without freeing John Verdun, there is no refuge camp. It is an lot of empty gravel. Returning, suspicious, and absent-minded players lose content.

4. If you finish the Whisphering Hillock quest before the Ladies of the Woods quest and release the spirit, the Strengers live, and the log says the children live, but there is no letter at the school in Novigrad. Since the Crones do have lines concerning this path, (Geralt "chose to outwit") it is a valid resolution, and should reflect so consistently in the story.

5. Hilde appears to be missing regardless of whether you talk to Sven after the completion of the Woodland Spirit quest.

6. Yanne, the Blacksmith for the Hard Times quest at Kaer Trolde, cannot be interacted with after the completion. Although his grief is understandable, he should reset after a period of time (say a week) for players to play Gwent and utilize his services. Otherwise, given the Blacksmith/Armorer proximity, players will never turn in his quest.

7. Although the loss of Olivier as an innkeep for the Now or Never quest is sensible consequence, the loss of an innkeep at the largest bar in town makes no sense. Either the shop would close, or someone would replace him. (They don't have to play Gwent!)

8. Saving killable NPCs, like Harald (Woodland Spirit), often results in stationary objects that do not follow sleep patterns. This is very immersion breaking, especially in contrast to the rest of the town.

9. The door to the hut of Tomlin the herbalist at White Orchard needs to be unlocked, whenever the player collected Buckthorn on their own. Discovery-based players should not lose a secondary quest (On Death's Bed) and a herbalist. The hunter should also exist, even if the track to find the nest is not required of him.*

10. Certain Concern Citizen's Sermons are everywhere and collecting them following the quest means they stay in the quest inventory. The ones previously collected prior to the resolution of the quest did update and move to the Useable Items tab. Pastodi and Rejk are both dead.

* This item was found on PS4 1.04. I have not restarted. I did read the patch notes, but it may as well have been fixed in 1.05.

you make some valid points there, I was just thinking about the character entries the other day and that some of them really don't deserve a place in there. Hendrik (sp) you don't even talk to him and he has an entry. Bran, you never see him alive, not worthy of a character entry.
The blacksmith at kaer trolde is dependent on how you respond to him once you complete the quest. If you decide not to tell him the outcome you will be locked out, but I have issues with that particular blacksmith anyway, I always have to save/reload or meditate if I want to use his services.
Regarding the woodland spirit village, the npcs are always standing around crying after I completed that quest and the dead bodies never disappear.
I'm guessing most of these are just oversights that the devs didn't have time to complete.
One of my biggest gripes is the village of Heatherton, there's so many refugees and bandits around that area and not one of them thinks its a good idea to move in. Such a waste of a decent sized village. Oh, and that village on faroe isle, inhabited solely by bandits. Once you kill them all its useless. Why couldn't that of been like the other abandoned sites, where it gets repopulated.

Kaer Trolde smith remains available. It is just that his schedule doesn't revolve around Geralt, and you need to be patient until he will speak to you.

Try mid morning and mid afternoon, rather than first thing or lunchtime. If he is sitting and smoking he won't respond to you, but can be while working. Had no trouble with his becoming unavailable after completing all main and significant side-quests.

The Kaer Trolde smith is not interactable if I chose to tell him about his sister in Hard Times. Meditating to anytime during morning or afternoon does not fix the issue. There is even a conversation blurb icon above his head, as if he should be selling. He will say, "Go, leave me to my grief."

Bear in mind that to interact with him in the first place, you have to select the option during his working hours.

EDIT:

Fixed in recent patch.
