What manner of error do you believe exists? The 2.1 patch is not itself an error, and including the 2.1 patch in the EE is not itself an error.

2.1 and subsequent developments require .NET Framework 4.0. This is not an error. It is required by Microsoft, which made the current edition of Visual C++ depend on .NET 4.0. The only thing this should have broken is compatibility for Wine users, as Wine cannot emulate 4.0 yet.

Guy please don't be dismissive. It's been a problem for many, no matter the source. It exists. I'm currently trying the fix as listed by the devs.

I don't mean to say nobody has trouble with 2.1. But .NET 4.0 is required for it, and it's because Microsoft made it required for Visual C++ 2010. That's nothing CDPR can do anything to rectify, except provide the workarounds that they already have.

I guess my question to the devs would be: it was made optional before the EE, why not now? This enabled people such as myself to avoid the issue. There must be a way to skip it when downloading the EE. Patch 2.1 isn't even required. It's trivial.

have not been able to get past the launcher since 2.1 was released due to the dot net garbage. Downloading the Enhanced Edition now on Steam and I hope this problem will disappear. If not, CDPR needs to patch out dot net 4.0 or provide a new, easy workaround.

I've tried every applicable fix listed by the devs, even the clean boot. Nothing works. I'll DL again via GoG and try to head 2.1 off at the pass before it installs.

Have the same problem since Patch 2.1. Starting game from launcher brings me back to launcher. start again and the game gets stuck at the wolf head. Tried all suggestions I could find here. reinstalled NET 4.0

If GoG re-install doesn't work, I'll try my collector's edition disk, although I suspect that will go the same. Maybe only Steam can patch the game properly, at least in my case. I've ferreted through every damn file that has been listed as an offender as per the devs.

The best solution would be for them to have released a patch WITHOUT 2.1. This has been a known issue for months.

If they've continued to use VC++ 10.0 (2010) for development, the .NET 4.0 dependency may be widespread, and backing out only the changes for 2.1 may not help. I hope that's not the case. But only the developers could say for sure.

Does the EE patch update the game to the latest version?
