4k resolution system requirements

+
Hi everyone!

I wanna invest a new laptop for my daily work progress and gaming with Gwent on 4k resolution cause i think it has the best cards animation on the market and love playing with it and wanna see in 4k.

My question is i cannot find the 4k resolution system requirements only on 1080p high settings. Is there anyone who runs with this resolution or knows what's the minimum System settings which can enjoy the game.

Thanks for reading and answering!

You want to buy a laptop with a 4K display AND game on it? I do hope you have brought along some $$$. Anyhow, the 4K resolution doesn't really require that much more power. So, any dedicated graphics card should be able to handle it. I have had the game run on 4K with the recommend spec (while having an i5 processor).

RECOMMENDED:
OS: Windows 7/8/8.1/10 (64bit)
Processor: Intel Core i3 6100 | AMD FX-6300
Memory: 4 GB RAM
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 | AMD Radeon R7 265
Storage: 6 GB available space
Sound Card: DirectX compatible sound card
Network: Broadband Internet connection

I'm not sure how frowned upon necroing an old thread is here, but hopefully I'll get away with it.

I currently play Gwent on a laptop with a 4K screen, and it doesn't run at all smoothly with 4K resolution. Which is fine, I never expected it to, but I suspect there aren't many laptops out there that can do it.

That said, I have been thinking of building a gaming PC for a while. I mostly just play Gwent and Thronebreaker, and I love the art so much, I'd love to see it in 4K glory. Is it still the case that the game can run smoothly at 4K on the above specifications? I'm skeptical, as my current laptop is nowhere near managing it, despite being quite fancy (albeit without a particularly impressive GPU). I'm not sure whether general GPU reviews are that relevent, as I imagine Gwent isn't as demanding as most games people play, but I'd love to have more information to go on. And given that the main purpose of the PC would be some extra shiny Gwent action, I'd hate to spend hundreds of dollars only to find that I'd underspecced it - or conversely that I spend way more money than I need to for a super powerful and loud gaming PC that I never fully utilise. I reached out to CDPR support, but they just said they "can't give advice on PC building", which while reasonable was not very helpful.

Thanks in advance, y'all.

It's okay when the topic is still relevant.

I no longer have access to the 4K laptop so I can no longer check. However, my personal findings were:
- Gwent requires more resources that similar card games likely to due all the animated cards (and maybe some unoptimized code).
- The GPU is relevant for running the game smoothly.
- The 4K resolution (WITH the 4K resolution pack) didn't make the game more pretty probably because my laptop screen was too small to really notice the difference between 4K.

Thanks for the reply, it's very useful. I did presume that the GPU would be the most important part, but it's good to hear that confirmed. And yes, while I was talking about laptops, because that's what I have at the moment, the advantage of a PC would be I could use my 24" 4K screen, which while small for a 4K screen, is still plenty big enough to appreciate all the extra pixels :)

If anyone has experience with specific graphics cards working or not working smoothly with 4K Gwent, that'd be very handy too.

Well, I recently bit the bullet and bought and assembled a new PC. It's undoubtedly overspecced for the purposes of playing Gwent, but regardless, 60fps 4K Gwent with 184PPI is a beautiful thing.

As I say, this is definitely more than is needed, but for a point of reference I have a Ryzen 7 3700X CPU and Radeon RX 5600XT OC GPU. It runs Linux, and the load and temperatures are all nice and low when running Gwent perfectly at 60fps / 4K. I look forward to finding some tougher games to stress the system more, but I'm not really into twitchy bang bang games, they just stress me out. Maybe just one more round of Gwent, then...

I would like to know the minimum requirement for a PC and Laptop that can run Gwent at 4K resolution with at least 60fps but I can't find it at CDPR support page. I can't even find the contact button to send question.

Could anyone point me out where I can find this information please?

I'd like to buy a new mini PC which be able to play Gwent at 4k -- is the Ryzen Mobile 4500U capable?

If this specification won't meet the requirement, what you may suggest please?

I'd hazard a "maybe" on that. I don't think the 4500U has released yet, so we don't have numbers for it. For comparison, my 4K laptop has an Intel UHD Graphics 620 GPU, and does around 30-40fps at 1080p. I'd be surprised if an integrated GPU could do 4K@60, to be honest, but the new Ryzen Mobile 4000 series looks like it will be the fastest yet. Still, I think it would be a big gamble to get this system and expect 4K@60 Gwent.

I asked them earlier this year for recommendations for 4K 60fps Gwent, and got this not-very-helpful reply:
I'm afraid that as Tech Support, we can only advise players with technical
issues they might be facing with the game. We are unable to recommend what
computer might be best for you or that will meet your needs.

What I can suggest is that you talk to the retailer or a specialist and ask for
a recommendation based on your expectations.

It's fair to say that 4K 60fps Gwent needs a lot less than most modern games, but still a reasonable GPU. I listed mine earlier in the thread (Radeon RX 5600 OC), but I expect you could get away with something significantly less powerful than that. Sorry I can't be more specific, but who has the time or money to buy a heap of GPUs and find out what's the minimum needed for 4K Gwent? (Answer: CDPR - do it and report back on requirements, it'd be helpful!)

I can say that 4K Gwent is every bit as delicious as you imagine it is, and is worth getting a decent computer for if you have the funds and like Gwent :)

Thanks @mortoise. I want information to determine whether I should go for the minimum requirement one or more powerful one because I have a plan to upgrade both PC and buy a laptop. Therefore, I try to balance those. I will ask people around and wait for other replies too. :D

btw, I'm a bit surprise and disappoint that CDPR can't provide the answer.

I'm thinking Is it possible to ask the Developer about this?
